The 'middle' = not in need of 24/7/365 care & not a high flier at the other end In just over a month I become a pensioner. I wonder though how people like me, but much younger cope/will cope with a profile similar to mine. Dxes: ASD(Asperger's ) and schizophrenia/schizoaffective. Cognitive: Sign...

I'm no psychologist but your description of those intense feelings sounds like my trauma meltdowns. Trauma meltdowns in CPTSD aren't from visual flashbacks as much as emotional flashbacks. When emotion X gets triggered (you feeling less than others), you cycle into emotional flashbacks. It all soun...

I've been seeing a pdoc since autumn 1973. First dxed with an SMI in 1975. I've never considered it could be CPTSD . I just know my life has been significantly restricted by it and the lack of appropriate help and support. Nearly 50 years later , and to some degree it still affects me. I think some ...

I used to have a blunted response to positive things and a very strong one to negative things. That was pre being on the antipsychotic depot. I've tended to put that down to the SMI , mainly because I'm not sure the average autistic person reacts like I do when very stressed- i.e increased paranoia,...

I've been trying to find a word for why I feel so out of sync with many other autistic people. The word that's just sprung to my mind is intensity . There's an intensity re being autistic, and the symptoms that go with it, that I struggle to identify with. Maybe that can be explained by the comorbid...

·I had my abdominal aortic aneurysm screening this morning. That was fine. However the woman doing it said I was a very interesting person. That was followed by saying the scan had picked up something unrelated to the aaa screening. The GP will now have to decide what to do, having seen the images. I...

I've always been very hesitant to use the term 'gifted',but others have used it about me. I can't say I have any great/outstanding skills or talents.I have definite comparative strengths and weaknesses. For the most part the psychiatric profession has been hypercritical towards me because I didn't l...

Based on psychometrician created and/or normed tests I 'technically' fall into the highly gifted category. I say 'technically' because 'bullying related trauma', and the subsequent SMI, has taken a huge psychological dump on my ability to live up to that potential.

I have always had difficulty socialising with others. It wasn't an 'on developing a severe mental illness' thing. From May 2009-March 2020 I had 55/56 FB friends. Circa March 2020 I got involved with the FB high IQ community. I now have 270 FB friends, about 95% of those coming from the high IQ comm...
