Science is just systematic knowledge on natural world. It can be used for good things. It can be used for bad things. It's just a tool. A screw driver is neither good nor evil - it's useful or useless for a given purpose. Knowledge, including science, is just another tool - useful or useless for a g...

Between letting get away with things and ending the relationship, there is a broad spectrum of possible reactions - like telling a person what they did hurt you.
I try to react adequately, even if sometimes figuring out what was adequate takes time. It gets better with training.

It is an absolute truth in US history……but the present-day white students shouldn’t be held responsible for it. The responsibility lies in who perpetrated the systemic racism. By "absolute", I mean everywhere, every time. As a part of history teaching - including how it evolved over time ...

What I would see as a danger about adding the topic of systematic racism to curriculum would be a risk that it would be taught as some absolute truth instead of dynamically evolving reality.

I think including the dark pages in the standard history course would be safer in this regard.

Stand up. Learn. Try a different approach. Fail. Stand up. Learn. Try a different approach...

Also, failure and success are not binary terms. You usually partially succeed, partially fail. So, with each repetition, you can improve the ratio between the two.

I meant try to keep getting, as in try to keep getting dates, hoping that he will find success. I'm in Continental European dating culture, which means you socialize in mixed circles and friendship-first is the most prevalent approach. So, I'd say - keep meeting people and hone valuable friendships...

Well since my brother is incel, and keeps saying that he doesn't want to bother to try to keep getting women, is he right though and it will just not work so why bother? Does this mean he is just suppose to be miserable for the rest of his life, and the only thing he can do is patiently wait till h...

Issy, I had to set boundaries with people who aren't evil, with people I love. I prefer to think with terms like "unhealthy" or "immature". The point is not to feed unhealthy dynamics, not to support immature behaviors. Healthy distance is often the best tool. Immaturity of your ...

^^ Very dangerous thinking. Let's imagine, with this mindset common among people, a "prophet" emerges and says that it's justified to do <something evil, let's say some ethnic cleansing or nuking a whole nation> because the "prophet" is the voice of God and God's actions are alw...

Speaking of Garfield. Someone photoshopped Garfield out of the comic and called it Garfield minus Garfield. I find it quite amusing.

What worked for me was - I'm not responsible for choices of other adults, even being them my own parents or spouse. They have minds of their own and problems of their own, they are responsible for their bad choices, not me. It wasn't always about abuse. Sometimes it was about other kinds of unhealth...

I am one of the scientists and I think we are often deeply misunderstood. We usually don't have solutions that other people block by their evilness. We just gather and systemise knowledge and sometimes this knowledge leads to some solutions. Sometimes these solutions are blocked because of their cos...

^ So you're saying that people existed before they really existed as we know it, in God's imagination, and in that imaginary form we put pressure on him to create us, and we didn't give him enough time, so he went and botched it, which was all our fault? I don't see how. The explanation is as absur...
