Just a quick note on the Nordic countries; many of the have enormous oil wealth, and that has allowed them to prop up generous social welfare programs despite otherwise lackluster economies. Make of that what you will. Norway has a lot of oil. Denmark has significant oil, but not as much as Norway ...

Don't move out until you have a legally binding separation agreement that is fair to you. If you both own the land, she has to buy you out. If she can't, you continue to live there. Period. I agree with goldfish, she has a very strange world view. She does not get to use you for labor and financial ...

I greatly appreciate this thread. I will turn 69 at the end of December. I realized I was autistic when I happened upon a couple of articles describing autistic professional women and the penny dropped. Suddenly my life made sense instead of being inchoate. I have been married multiple times. I'm cu...

Once upon a time, back when there were guilds of bakers and guilds of coopers, etc., the cost of something was based on the actual cost of producing that item, plus a sort of set idea about what labor was worth. In other words, the cost to another person of something was closely related to the cost ...

Your situation describes me perfectly. Audiologist says my hearing is great. But I can't distinguish what someone is saying when there is other background noise, whether it is talking or other noise. I just say, "I'm sorry, I can't hear you." Or, "Sorry, could you say that again?"...

Practicing gratitude daily has been one of the things that has made my life more enjoyable and interesting.

I hope you get through the day without too much distress.

I am detached from my body and super-sensitive at the same time. On the grand scale, I do not recognize hunger or worse, thirst. I have no trouble eating because I enjoy food. Fluids I must remember consciously. I have even had some close encounters with dehydration. One just last year. I started fe...

Finding out I was autistic at age 64 was elevating…a relief…finally something that made sense of the chaos of my life. I really don’t mourn for a life missed for lack of a “normal” life. (From time to time I briefly mourn some other missed opportunities.) And as ShortFat above said, it is ok to mour...

The quality of my sleep is uneven. I am often tired, too tired even for things I want to do.

Fatigue makes me want to retreat to my bed, sleep and read.

If I can’t do that, I am cranky, irritable, have brain fog and make mistakes.
