Unfortunately he parried that seemingly unbreakable belief that the ND movement is against all treatments . I have never seen that including “woke” ND movement supporters. There is no central ND movement maybe ASAN which is a small office somewhere staffed by just a few people. The extremist ND mov...

Being interested in tech I kind of like musk. But that t-shirt is pure hate, it’s not even a joke in the classical sense just a simple hate statement. Someone took time, thought and effort to design, make and sell that t shirt. Someone else thought it’s ok to wear it. Thats is probably the most dist...

There is a difference between creating sub categories and creating a separate diagnosis. Aspergers was a separate diagnosis. Lorna Wing proposed it in a journal article in 1981. Her continuing lobbying for it made a reality by the 90s. What happened was Wing did a prevalence study and found many pe...

The merging was just diagnostic laziness, maybe it made some people very rich in certain fields so that was the reason?. Its caused a lot of problems they are only now starting to address like the new category of profound autism. It wasn't laziness, the previous situation was a number of different ...

Although its probably a long way off & wont benefit everyone, it goes someway in proving the following:- 1. There is potential for it to be treated in the future 2. Autism is not necessarily "hardwired" and irreversible as often claimed by some 3. The value of autism research Researche...

Most of these celebrities don’t actually have it. They have personality disorders misdiagnosed as Autism. Of course they couldn't possibly be autistic, some rando on the internet claims they don't. Of course their doctor can't diagnose anything properly, you gotta trust some rando on the internet. ...

Sadly he`ll soon realise no one cares. NT`s are only interested in superpowers, they don't want to hear about the bad side of autism. They see ordinary more disabled autistic people as weird, intellectually retarded, a burden & annoying. Something they don't want to talk about much. ND advocates...

WP has improved my non verbal communication skills as well as debating skills well done.

One good thing about the site you can criticise ideas but not get personal so discussions don’t collapse into a twitter storm of verbal diarrhoea of insults and F U’s

A key thing here is another use of the term "Profound Autism" by the mainstream media, it took a year or so but its now a used term recently taken up by the CDC and media that will lead to greater public awareness.

Maybe for some especially with BAP it’s probably best not going down the diagnosis route.

If your coping well and in a good bubble what’s the point in undermining confidence

Life is short sometimes it’s probably best not to know too much if not knowing isn’t a problem

Was a sort of explanation at last but i don't really consider it a proper explanation since autism is not a real diagnosis of what's going on, as the explanation is still largely unknown. If i was told i have a mutation in gene x and it led to x not being produced which causes this to happen, that i...

Yes this does happen sadly. The brain is a strange thing and when given a label many people start to fully act out the label meaning more autistic. Many psychological experiments have been carried out on this. You may have heard the well known one - many people falsely telling the individual they lo...

The gold standard stats on this are the CDC which as far as I know ID remain stable as a % of autistic people. The problem is there are two things wrong with the figures:- 1. It ignores ID in adults - They claim ID is approx 31% in 8 year olds autistics so everyone thinks only a 1/3 of autistic peop...
