Backstory: Not quite sure why it manifested like this but after my dad lied about my half sister being my cousin and I found out, I have dealt with trauma around anything to do with relationships. I already had a problem with binge eating and this only got worse as this fear has increased. I realise...

A lot of people think that it’s in a woman’s best interest to not have the right to choose. They think that getting an abortion from being raped will make the bad situation worse and will cause further long-lasting psychological and biological damage. They think that having children is a woman’s pu...

Yup. pretty sure there is a lot of comorbidity with being on the spectrum and experiencing anxiety. I have Generalised Anxiety Disorder myself.

No idea why anyone would think people should be fine with this. The people making the rules are so dumb. Some of them won't let you get rid of an ectopic pregnancy, some would force you to carry a baby if you were raped. People who think this is OK don't understand how absolutely devastating this co...

What faith are you? If you don’t mind me asking.

I get quite anxious about mentioning my faith publicly so I'll PM you. I don't want my online presence linked to me.

Thank you for the responses but I'm not christian :'). I do believe in Jesus but in my faith we don't believe he died for our sins, or the trinity but that he is a separate person who is instead currently in heaven and will come back and lead people. I think I'm just going to continue to try and lea...

Ok so to start please don't try to make me feel better by saying god etc aren't real because that won't make me feel better, especially as even when I didn't subscribe to a religion I felt a connection with a diety. OK so I'm religious, don't want to specify but I'm so terrified of dying and going t...

I'm sorry that you were invalidated and I understand somewhat how you feel. When I was first diagnosed I was so happy to have an explanation and then very quickly doubted myself. I wondered if maybe I was exaggerating in my interview. Then when family found out some members insisted this wasn't the ...

One of the worst is trying to rely on antidepressants. Drugs are tested by giving the new compound to a group of patients, and a placebo to a similar group, to see what changes for each group. If the control group is given the usual sugar pill, they can tell, and so they don't expect to change. If ...

The title of this thread is just a figure of speech. The OP is asking for guidelines or advice on what a mental health worker should and shouldn't do, and if anyone's got any unpleasant experiences with mental health workers. Sorry for not making this clear! I spent ages thinking the title through ...

Wasn’t sure where to post this but basically, I work in a mental health recovery centre and am currently doing my training. However I was wondering if there was anything anyone here wanted to say about dos and donts when working with autistic people as a lot of the people who see us either are auti...

I once saw a mental health worker who laughed in my face when I told him that I had been sexually assaulted by a woman. Don't do this. That's the bloody problem! They only think men can assault. I read about a guy who refrained from calling the police when his woman assaulted him. Why? He did not w...
