Older people go to movies less often and if they do they get senior discounts. Also older people are usually not going to be buying products related to the main character of the movie. Also most advertisers don’t want old people because of the belief they are set in their ways and thus are not pers...

^ I think it's an extremely off-putting way to market your film. I never saw the Bond films, so I don't really care in this case, but whenever Disney trots out an actor to reassure us that their latest live-action remake will fix all the problems with the original, it makes me NOT want to go see it....

There was once a spoof film in which the central comic conceit was that a swingin' 60s spy dropped into the present day would seem out of place and inappropriate. That film was called "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery." It came out in 1997. (Even in that film, they went out of t...

I watched it on Disney plus to see if it would be worth taking my nephew to see it at the cinema, but I thought it was a bit boring. I'm tired of this generational trauma stuff Disney are doing now. I liked that they resolved all of their issues in the end, but I don't think a 6 year old is going t...

A month ago, I wrote a post elsewhere about how “A new Disney movie came out today & I don't care.” I was surprised as I used to run right out to the theater as soon as they were released. Now the new movie, “Strange World,” is available on Disney+. Here's my review. TL;DR: "I was right not...

Ever since I got my cell phone, I'm always watching videos. Or posting on forums, LOL. I want to get back to reading books at some point. When I did read, I read a lot of books that were just about people. I can get invested if it's well-written and has interesting, distinctive characters. Humor hel...

I have trouble understanding complex subjects, especially if they're out of my specific area of interest.

However, I also find that things that are supposed to be "simple" often seem dauntingly overcomplicated to me.

I was thinking about when YouTubers say to upvote their video because it helps their channel. I don't believe my individual upvote does anything, but I will do it anyway if I actually like the video. I have no such affection for politicians. Generally speaking, I can't listen to a politician of eith...

I don't think all NTs are caricatures, but I have seen large numbers of locals who have clearly gone to great expense and effort to look and dress as much like caricatures/stereotypes as possible.

Faced with the usual "get out and vote" marketing and social media barrage on this Election Day, I'm wondering who else besides me did not go out and vote today. You can also state your reasons if you like :). ' I'm specifying Americans because today was a mid-term Election Day for us, but...

Also, on my planet, all machines, such as cars, motorcycles, lawnmowers, and leaf blowers, would be required to be as quiet as possible. As soon as I saw the title of the thread, this is exactly the kind of thing I thought of. I'm always amazed at the amount of loud alarms, sirens and grinding mech...

The two political extremes always remind me of each other. The Obama article reminds me (in a strange way) of a Christian propaganda film called "Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas." I would've expected the film to be aimed at criticizing atheists like me, but its main target is actually Chri...

If I could peer into an alternate timeline, I'd be curious to see how COVID would have been spun by the Democrats and Republicans if Hillary had been president while it was happening. I don't know exactly how, but I feel like both their takes would have been different.

MINOR SPOILERS for "She-Hulk" -- Mostly the first episode. The Disney+ series “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” is “controversial” by design. It's a marketing tactic. Meanwhile, sensationalized reactions from the “Anti-Woke” critics of the internet – She-Hulk WORST FAILURE EVER!! ! WOKE Marvel h...

Sorry for the delayed reply. I thought this thread was dead in the water when I posted it :D. Interestingly, I think some of Doug Walker's recent "Untitled Review Show" episodes (done as himself, not in-character) have more of an old-school Nostalgic Critic vibe than "The Nostalgic Cr...
