The first real girlfriend I had when I was 29 asked me out. I was getting ready to ask her our the same day, but she beat me to it! Still, it is usually expected that the guy will do the pursuing and asking. yes i easily see that being forever being one-sided, but glad i'm not alone in still feelin... |

Having a car and job hasn’t helped me and I’m the same age as TGI, so I’m not sure I agree with Mona here. Having a car and a job helped your prospects as it did the OP's. I suspect 100% of the women here would prefer a partner with a car and a job than one without both. We can all agree that havin... |

Unless someone is a master at masking, I can usually tell, though sometimes I need to be around someone for a bit to really know for sure. |

As he has explained numerous times, while he does understand that obtaining "a driving licence and semi-decent job" would indeed make it much less difficult for him to find a girlfriend, his loneliness robs him of the emotional energy to do those things. In all honesty, I'm not convinced ... |

The results of the study aren’t surprising tho. As I always said, having an active social life is the main mean how NTs meet people. Aspies struggle in dating mainly due to lack of social life, hence lack of friends and hence lack of chances to meet a match. I was going to comment exactly this! The... |

Never seen the show, but not surprised in the slightest. If more Autistic women were willing to give Autistic men a shot instead of just saying yes to the first NT who asks them out it would be more even. |

Huge Star Wars fan here, I also thought “hey, are they trying to make Tech Autistic-coded or something?” When I heard the line. Not the first time they’ve gone with the ND angle for a character, I strongly believe Anakin Skywalker, as portrayed by Hayden Christensen in the prequels, is in some way N... |

Most people meet someone via friendship circles, problem is that most autistics have very few to no friends for obvious reasons. Having an active social life is still the #1 causal way of meeting potential partners. People tend to have less active social life as they get older too. This is probably... |

Hot take: if Autistic women were more willing to try having relationships with Autistic partners rather than NTs, the relationsjips would have a lower chance of being abusive. |

Hiki is known around these parts. The main issue with it is that there aren’t enough people on it, and the high male-to-female diagnosis ratio of Autusm makes an Autustic-exclusive dating app a lot less practical (at least for straight Autistics) than most of us would like to admit. Yes I find that... |

RE sports: perhaps the reason so many Autistics avoid them (both team and individual) is that we tend to have deficits in both gross and fine motor coordination to varying degrees.
I personally enjoy hiking and swimming more than sports and going to the gym. |

Agreed that Zakatar shouldn't be looking in "bars and other vanity fairs." But, to be fair, Zakatar is talking about the situation of "average-looking, average-earning" autistic men, not "average-looking, average-earning" NT men, and he's talking specifically about the... |
