I'm noticeably something . Because I am female, extroverted and expressive, Autism does not come to mind for most people. I am able to suppress most stereotypical ASD traits in general company (which is unpleasant to do). I come across as the absent-minded professor or child-like. All bets are off w...

^^ LOL. In the general population about 81% of people would have parents who are both right-handed, 18% would have only one right-handed parent and a mere 1% would not have a right-handed parent.

Disclaimer: does not consider ambidextrous or degree of handiness.

I'm with you on reddish-haired and left-handed: We can include my great aunt also. Sorry for your medical hardships.

Joe, relative to your observations, I got glasses in my teens as did my Autistic mother. So far my Autistic niece and daughter don't have glasses. Time will tell. My mom and I were bookworms while my niece and daughter are athletic. I tried to find if reddish hair is more often correlated with Autis...

Hold-up, teasing: where is the option for two left-handed parents. Is that so rare? Would children from that union survive? I suspected that left-handedness is more common in ASD, as are other differences (and co-morbids) like synesthesia. Dr. Google confirms both. Also that "adoption st...

I cry when people are especially kind. Sarcasm: Thankfully that's not often.

Researchers note that, on average, American women cry 3.5 times each month, while American men cry about 1.9 times each month. https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/is-crying-good-for-you-2021030122020 I’m shocked by those numbers. I didn’t think people cried that much. I haven’t cried in months, not...

This has nothing to do with protecting children, and if anything, it means worse protection for pre-teen girls [...] Their bodies usually are not ready to carry a pregnancy to term at such a young age...Yet some states and politicians are fighting to force them to do just that. I have a friend who ...

i dont really like babies tbh I'm with you. I love reasoning with my children --- the baby stage was brutal. My Autistic mother and myself both did med-free labors ---people think we were brave, but it's actually b/c it seemed like the safest option given we are sensitive to medications (and have h...

I felt glad that children have better protection. My rights as a woman should not include a license to kill someone because their existence is temporarily inconvenient to me. Like anything, rights can be abused (as they too often are). I agree that for "temporary inconvenience" is abuse o...

I so understand, SharonB. I have - like most AS women - been so traumatised by dismissal, invalidation and refusal to listen by doctors over decades that now, at the first sign of invalidation from a practitioner I go into brain freeze. The energy cost of self advocacy in this circumstance is huge....

Why is this the responsibility of Democratic women ? There is collective responsibility (not just democrat women) but for many the question remains "where were they" when all this came down? The persecuted can only do so much to protect themselves; it's for the community to provide the re...

I hope you find support. I am fortunate to have good health insurance and resources in my town. I hope you can find AS-friendly ones in yours. I also was initially diagnosed bipolar (over a decade ago) and it took me a while to find the truth (ASD/ADHD/GAD/CAPD, the works) It's hard, but a relief. I...

...Why should I "want" to fix someone else's problem? OMG -- My NT husband says that All. The. Time. "Do you want to...?" I have constantly coached him about it. I need a translator for us. Hey, maybe Google could devise a NT-ASD translator. Do you want to...? = I want you to......

The general situation is so awful, my brain is saying that it's ridiculous. To top it off ---- I took two new-to-us kittens to the vet to get spayed/neutered at four months age. The vet said "not until 6 mos". So I went to a 2nd vet and that vet said "not until 6 mos" --- so I br...
