PS, seek out adult autism groups, blogs, videos, books... there is not nearly the number of these as there are groups, papers, posts, etc about children, but they are there. The more you learn, the more self understanding you will obtain. You are definitely not alone! (diagnosed at 68 and 71 today)

useful information gained, not a moment too soon. Science has long linked anorexia and other eating disorders to autism but now they are understanding enough about processing /thinking patterns to be able to intercede and begin to help. Good news thanks for the post

not your fault, glad she is getting help, sounds like she has needed support for a while now. very difficult to live in the same household or family where such problems are not being helped. Hope you are doing your best self care and getting the things you need as well. (family patterns can keep us ...

I was diagnosed with autism at age 68, I am 71 today. I have been very relieved to learn about my autism since it explains almost everything that happened in the sad and sordid past. Self understanding and understanding how autism had its way in almost everything of the past has been so healing. I t...

my autism is a disability, not a rosy posy "special gift" ! !! !
I would lose the 25th percentile visual processing and the 35th percentile audio processing struggles in a heart beat if it could be done. (not holding my breath)

burnout is real! Would it be an alternative to rest up and take a break for a while, recover your emotional and neurological resources, and take more training as a specialist in autism? there is such a crying need for autism specialty doctors. Doing work as a doctor in another form may be a way to k...

I was trained very young to hold my hands clasped either in front or behind me..("don't touch ")
I may have done this at one point or another... if I am not clasping my hands, I have them in my pockets.

its a lot to sort, and the older we are when we first discover our autism the more sorting of the past it takes to put everything into perspective. You are wise to question, take your time and learn all you can about autism, you will begin having "aha" moments and "so thats why" ...

I test especially high in the use of words and understanding of vocabulary, but when you recognize the fact that my other processing systems are all defective and unreliable, you can understand I developed ...
