I have the same aversion. I've never heard of any therapy for it. Is there any reason why you have to wear clothing that touches the front of your neck e.g. work uniform etc.? Perhaps it would be better to negotiate clothing options if that's the case. Luckily I don't have to wear bothersome clothi...

↑ Please forgive me for saying this, but one coincidence does not validate a generalized claim. Considering all of the celebrities, historical figures, and even fictional characters who have been allegedly 'identified' as being on the autism spectrum without any validation whatsoever, I am inclined...

I have a theory. Since we're forbidden from saying guys have it harder than gals when it comes to dating, I won't say that. Here's what I will say, however: Guys on the spectrum have a harder time than neurotypical guys when it comes to dating. As a result, a lot of guys on the spectrum might go mis...

What are some of your biggest pet peeves when it comes to stereotypes the outside world has about us? My single biggest pet peeve is the fact a lot of neurotypicals think we're mentally challenged. Not that there's anything wrong with being mentally challenged (being mentally challenged is beyond an...

Like a lot of us on here, clothing bothers the front of my neck. I'm not able to wear crew neck shirts; my tee shirts are all v-neck. Then as for button-down shirts, I have to leave the top 2 buttons unbuttoned. Luckily I don't live somewhere with frigid winters. Because scarfs are totally out of th...

Always thought it was incredibly tactless that people could pick on those with disabilities, although this instance wasn't what I was really expecting honestly. We need more support, not less, and bullying is one of the worst things a person can experience, particularly when they're struggling with...

I had a few friends in elementary school. By the end of elementary school, however, all but one of my friends had moved away. In middle school, the friendship with the one remaining friend fizzled out. During high school, I would sometimes hang out with neighbor kids. However, they'd likely want not...

I actually know what percentage of students in universities in Australia are autistic/ADHD. it's around 12% The suspicion in university circles is there is even more students who are NT passing and certain STEM related courses (Math and Physics) the staff are likely undiagnosed. Yeah, I'm NT-passin...

Being the smallest kid in my class in elementary school (combined with being on the spectrum), obviously I got bullied. I also became a bully. There was a kid 5 years younger than me across the street. I bullied him. I feel terrible about it in retrospect. All I wanted was to feel powerful (since I ...

https://news.yahoo.com/hid-autistic-during-first-few-201610389.html I found an article a lot of us can probably relate to. Cliffnotes: Student hid the fact he was autistic (and attempted to do "normal person" stuff like parties, sports games, etc). He ended up wearing himself thin. Eventu...

What sort of behaviour did he find highly unacceptable? To avoid potentially identifying myself, I'm going to be vague. The behaviors he found highly unacceptable fell under 2 main umbrellas: 1. I unknowingly committed some faux pas with customers. 2. Like a lot of people on the spectrum, I have a ...

I can say this much: I am an attractive (but socially awkward) guy.

I've seen guys with much worse looks (but without social awkwardness) have a lot more luck than me with attracting a partner.

Mental age is a demeaning concept. It's always used to say someone is younger mentally than their physical age and deny them things. My mother wouldn't let me learn to drive at 16 or get a part time job because "You're younger mentally". I also was forced to basically babysit this bratty ...

We don't speak in that snooty cockney accent, at least not any more. Cor blimey, speak for yourself, guv'nor. I didn't actually realise how disliked the British are by Americans in general. I mean, I don't blame them, I just didn't know. A few years back I was listening to a podcaster I liked and h...
