How did he go from a record breaking 81 million votes to a 37% approval rating in just 10 months? He's disappointing but a significant portion of those voters would have voted for practically anything to save their nation from Trump's second term. Agreed. We didn’t vote him in expecting to love him.

Bathrooms are difficult because a transgender woman is not safe in a male restroom. I had not thought transgender women posed any actual threat to women in a female restroom, but we may have a case that says differently, and I don't know yet how seriously to take that. There remains more I need to ...

I don't see how calling someone as they wish could possibly harm students. It's such a small ask. IMHO the teachers should shut up and respect each student's choice. Note that I also wouldn't approve of a heavy hand enforcing the standard, given how often people will make innocent mistakes. Shoot, ...

"Trust different sources of information" seems like saying "Good people on both sides" -- people and opinions on opposite sides cannot both be correct; in a two-sided discussion, there must be one side that denies the truth and one side that relies upon it. Well, let's start by ...

The concept of free speech is designed to allow the powerless to speak their truth against the powerful without fear of death, torture, jail or reprisal. It was imagined as a check against corrupt government, and it wasn't meant to promise you would be handed a microphone. The massive issues caused ...

The other thing I do when I talk with reporters is to be straight.  I try not to deceive them or to be defensive, because those are precisely the ways most people get themselves into trouble with the press.  Instead, when a reporter asks me a tough question, I try to frame a positive answer... What...

First, there are limits under the law to what parents are allowed to do. There are also social limitations and pressure (not always for the better, but overall it is an important restraining factor). Second, to see the power difference as age discrimination requires that the only difference be age. ...

Oops, I read when, not why. I was 38 and 41 but did no genetics testing nor took an amino. For me the decision is have kids or don’t have them; if you decide to have them, you love what you get. I could see genetic information as useful to deciding if you want biological children v adopted, however....

^^^ in my profession, the official standards say I’m supposed to quit if I know my boss is doing something I believe is wrong. I’d never have a job. I am one of the few who will tell the boss the truth and work hard to sell it. It is extremely rare to face a decision that is that black and white. Th...

I think I have some reading to do … I'll give you the Cliff Notes; Powell is pretty much universally respected up until the 2nd gulf war, after that liberals hate him for helping W convince the country that Iraq had WMDs (most people agree that he knew his info was shaky and went along because of i...

I think I have some reading to do …

I really wish my long term memory didn’t suck so bad. Strange what I remember v what I don’t.

No one is perfect, that is simply given. It’s about how the good and bad sit on a scale.

I guess I am uninformed about funeralxempire’s information because I’ve always liked and admired Colin Powell. I hadn’t known he was sick, and I was sad to hear today’s news. You were aware of his role in the illegal invasion of Iraq in '03, right? I don't think I'm tapping into any obscure informa...
