Would it be possible to soothe the 4 year old in you in the way that four year olds are soothed? Curl up under a blanket, watch something you like, that you find calming, enjoy treats (like the chocolate suggested above), or tea, hot chocolate. Hug your stuffed toys, wear a comfy pair of jammies. Ma... |

Greta is in no way exaggerating. Climate change is an enormous, impending catastrophe that at this point can only be mitigated, if prompt action is taken (which is currently not being done, not to the extent that is necessary), and can no longer be stopped. Even in a best-case scenario it will cause... |

She suffers from a fault which many NTs and Aspies suffer from. She thinks because she has strong feelings on something that she is correct because of those strong feelings that she has. I think that she has been used as a puppet to advance a polticial cause. Reason and observation would suggest th... |

It feels like there is a gaping bleeding wound in my chest that has been there for nine months, ever since the person I love most in the world and who has been my soulmate and other half for 40 years shoved me out of his life, and since then he has had a girlfriend (at first a few girlfriends, it w... |

I had a lot of this when I was younger. I could not see that I had alternatives to my choices in how to react to others in any situation. One thing that helped me a lot was to get trained in "healthy self assertive behavior". I was stuck in the sick behaviors I learned in my dysfunctional... |

I was an activist for many years, though I am no longer able to, most of my friends are activists. For absolutely no money or glory. Back in my day, activists were the "Tree hugger" type. They were good meaning gentle ppl. These days, many are violent in rhetoric if not in actuality, and ... |

Unfortunately the problem with any activism is that it is emotionally motivated and this tends to limit thinking. That said, activism is very necessary. One of the paradoxes of being human. Emotionalism over rationality is never a good thing. Context: Today's activists. From what I have seen, many/... |

I read a few descriptions of Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, including one from the Cleveland Clinic. It's interesting, and some aspects of it ring true to myself, like "emotional dysregulation is when your emotions are too loud for you to manage, causing feelings of being overwhelmed, uncomfort... |

She is in no way yesterday's news and she is absolutely correct, and admirable. She has her own knowledge and ideas but would be foolish not to also learn from people who are more knowledgeable about climate science and how to conduct effective activism. |

I don't have any useful advice, really. I'm responding to say good on you for trying to reach out and be heard. Not sure if this relates to how you feel, but sometimes I have found that feeling awkward or inadvertently acting awkward makes other people respond by looking puzzled or it just disrupts ... |

I do believe that it's an autism trait because I'm almost exactly the same way. Every time someone I love is sick, I want to hurt myself because I feel so guilty that I can't take their pain away. I also worry excessively about them when I can't be with them. Say for example if my friend writes to ... |

Bee33, the reason I am asking you these specific questions is that as far as my doctors and therapists know, I am the only person they have ever heard of who has been able to survive to adulthood having this particular issue that I have. That is why it is important to know if you might have it also... |

I'm not really sure. Children have tantrums so it may not be as noticeable in a child, so I don't know if my reactions were exaggerated or not, but I think yes, they were. As far as frequency, it only happens when something that I think is terrible happens, so it's fairly uncommon (every few years),... |
