Thanks. I hope to take a good look at that soon. From a brief glance, the ASD people do immediately look like special-needs people, fairly easy to spot. I often notice that with the ones on TV programmes, though not so much in real life. Maybe the ones I've met are milder cases. Not sure whether Ame... |

A lot of the time I wouldn't be able to very accurately describe the faces of people I've met, but I can very often recognise them if I see them again, or if I see a fairly representative photograph of them. So I guess I can't be exactly face blind - the information must be in my memory somewhere. I... |

I think we're too close to the era we're supposed to be describing to be able to see it very clearly. Time will tell. Not that I do a lot in the way of characterising eras. The experience is different for each individual. Personally I've seen enough strange local weather to make me think this global... |

Not particularly. I usually prefer non-mainstream people, which isn't quite the same thing. If somebody is neurotypical then in theory they have the potential to behave in a more considerate way, though in practice it doesn't seem to make much difference. It's probably better to give any individual ... |

I think there's good and bad in it. Probably best applied in moderation. I don't use the term "woke" myself because it's been co-opted by right-wingers to be a pejorative term to blind us to the good it can do, and because we already have terms for it. I prefer "right-on" or &quo... |

I can't think of any aspect of myself that's unique. At most, my overall profile of attitudes and traits might be less common than it would be for most people. As for Aspies as a unique group, I can't think of a single trait that isn't shared by the general population to some extent. It's often very... |

I think it impacted my political views before I knew I had ASD. My bad experiences in the world of work needed some explanation, and the most plausible theory was the socialist one that said the whole wages system was a cruel, unequal bargain for ordinary people. Not that I've embraced capitalism si... |

I experience my special interestes as something that brings me great joy. They give me a high as if I'm flirting with a beautiful woman or something. I use them to soothe my self when I'm anxious. Also I get a big high when I talk about them to somebody. For the moment they don't bring me any econo... |

I think it isn't compatible with the brute rationality of autistics. As a gut reaction I tend to agree with that, and I have difficulty understanding how Aspies, who are usually very logical, can buy into religion at all. Practically everything I see from religionists seems either irrational, dogma... |

Everything is "too". Too loud, too bright, too tight, too itchy, too anxious, too tired, too engrossed, too scattered, too particular ... The only thing I've never experienced is boredom. I am also totally immune to boredom, except in airports waiting for a flight. Probably due to being u... |

I suppose these days I tend to weigh up who's asking. If I'm not fine but they can't help or wouldn't want to help, I'll probably say I'm fine. If they might be able and willing to help and I might be willing to accept their help, I'm more likely to tell them the truth. But I might say I'm OK as sho... |

I don't really think of marriage as having much to do with children. There are already laws to force a deserting parent to support their kids financially, and the legal liability of parents for what their children do is much the same whether it's a marriage or not AFAIK. I think it's more to do wit... |

Personally I don't much care what another individual imbibes, as such. The law doesn't much care how much alcohol an individual consumes as long as their behaviour doesn't deteriorate into anything harmful to others etc. Some employers see it as grounds for dismissal but I think as long as it's not ... |
