Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Do you feel lack of interest in things ?

This is new. Oftentimes people on WP think that interests are for autistic people only and that nothing interests NTs apart from sport and celebrities maybe.

So, no, lacking interests isn't part of Asperger's. Maybe depression.

I know, I just get very anxious with things like this because of what happened last year during the beginning of the pandemic when people were going mad with toilet rolls and stuff. I just get angry too because of how selfish some people are. They seem oblivious to the fact that there are other peop...

I hug them back, or if their arms are around me where I can't move my arms to hug them back I just vocalise a hug (like if they say "nice to see you" while hugging me I say "aw, nice to see you too" or something like that, in a sort of affectionate tone of voice). I do like huggi...

I don't know much about holidays celebrated in other cultures so I just included the main/common holidays in the UK and USA (and other countries that share most of these holidays). My favourite holiday is Easter, because it resembles spring, which is my favourite season (and usually near my birthday...

No way. Halloween reminds me of children and goths.

I like Easter time.

No, but I have a teddy bear that I can't live without. He's like a comfort item for me and he is very privileged - he has his own space in our bed (between our pillows).

I've had him since my first Christmas, and he's always been there for me.

Yeah… I agree that if someone that prolific actually displayed a sufficient amount of traits for an autism diagnosis, there’s no way it would go unnoticed by everyone except a few members of this forum.

Thank you for wording what I've been trying to say much better. :)

This isn't about which country has it the coldest, as any country that has winters with temperatures that fall anywhere below freezing point are unpleasant to be living on the streets in. What I'm worrying about the most at the moment is the lack of lorry drivers and lack of deliveries to petrol (ga...

This doesn't help my anxiety levels. The NHS has gone to pot and are leaving seriously ill people to rot (like those suffering with deadly diseases that aren't covid). There's labour shortage which means many supermarkets are going to be empty (unless Boris Johnson does something about it). The poli...

So, is this thread satirical, or…? The original poster meant it seriously...Im rather sure. Others dismissed it, or misunderstood it, and used the thread to make joke suggestions. Well yeah, because Cyndi Lauper is not on the spectrum, or very unlikely. All NTs are different, a few odd mannerisms o...

I don't know if obsessions and special interests are the same thing or not. You know when a computer gets a malicious virus and it takes over all your programs and everything? That was what an obsession did to my brain when I was a teenager. I got this obsession with this guy I knew, and it became u...

... Who's supporting you in this process? Nobody, really. All this is completely my own decision, but I do like the feeling of being in control of it. As a child it was totally out of my control and I was too little to really know what was going on, and I had no control over who was told - word got...

I can't bring myself to look someone in the eye and say I have the dreaded A-word. Highly irrational, I know, but I just don't want to let anyone know about my shame. I didn't want the diagnosis to begin with, I had no choice at the time because of only being a small child, so now I do have some con...

Sometimes I feel I'm not like the others here on WP. I panic more than most others in some of my posts, I seem to be the angriest about having ASD, I understand why NTs lie and I use that technique myself sometimes, I am naturally not politically correct (but just try to be to keep myself from hurti...
