Wait, it's an NT thing not to offer to wash the dishes?

I don't think I focus on myself any more than the average human does. I focus a lot on other people, am sensitive to their emotions and body language, get emotionally involved and attached, can get fascinated with certain people, and even if I'm having a quiet day in I'm still always up for a teleph...

I do know that NTs do have problems, some even more than me. But their neurology doesn't cause their problems like autism does. This world is only catered for NTs and most don't realise they are born nor do they realise they have such extraordinary brains. They just know stuff. Know how to make frie...

It's not so much about following the flock, it's just that I often feel stupid and inferior, while neurotypicals have all these superpowers. I'm just nothing. Just a hopeless Aspie. With a disorder that means self-ism, in other words, isolation. Don't want it.

I just wish I were neurotypical. It panics me that nothing cures Asperger's or even treats it really. At least there's treatment for other disorders like depression or bipolar. Some bipolar people are 'normal' when they take meds regularly. But when you have an autism disorder you're just doomed to ...

I'm beginning to feel like the only woman in the Western world who has never dyed her hair before. I've never dyed my hair and don't plan on doing so. I have a hard time organising myself and remembering to do extra tasks that I don't really enjoy doing, and grooming my hair isn't something I enjoy...

Why are people so petty over me using a plastic jug to fill my bucket up at work? There is only one plastic jug that has always sat in the kitchen area at work, and it's handy to fill up my bucket with, as the bucket is too big to fit into the sink. But even if the bucket could fit into the sink I'd...

Dogs are usually as spooked by loud noises as cats are. But yes there is a lot of stigma against cats. When extreme dog lovers hear about an aggressive cat they immediately think that all cats are the same and that dogs are much better. But they forget the fact that more people (particularly childre...

One of my nieces is about 18 months and my aunt said that she copies words the adults around her say, like if someone says "I need a drink" she will repeat "I need a drink" even if she's not thirsty. Does this mean she is going to be autistic, or is it just part of child developm...

Quite the opposite, I have a fear of fires, except for controlled fires like bonfires.

As a small child I would have panic attacks whenever there was a fire drill at school because I thought there was a real fire.

This is true, as an Aspie female I find attracting men and relationships easy, if not instinctive. Women are lucky in that regard, when we flirt or try to get a man's attention we don't come across as creepy like some men sometimes do. But I believe making friends is harder for females on the spectr...

Does anybody on the spectrum not have social difficulties? Yes, my brother. He's been recently diagnosed with Asperger's but I don't know how because he doesn't have social difficulties, even as a child he didn't. At school he hung around with the popular kids and he wasn't interested in football o...

I got ganged up on at a volunteer job I used to do. A few of the other women there were a bit cliquey and suddenly had a problem with some of my behaviours. I don't mean I behaved poorly, I just mean they made a meal out of a few minor quirks that could easily have been ignored rather than a reason ...

I've been invited to go to a theme park in the spring but I'm reluctant now to go, even though I've been there before and I love rollercoasters. The last time I went, I kept feeling dizzy and lightheaded each time I stepped off a fast rollercoaster, and I had to keep sitting down to regain my balanc...

I'm glad someone finally took the time to reply. I'm not saying emetophobia is more common for Aspies but sensory issues could play a part in it so I thought some people here would relate. I reckon my emetophobia is the reason I managed to not catch covid (yet). Before covid I took the same precauti...

Just because some people want to live the rest of their lives hiding away from a virus we now have vaccines for, doesn't mean they can insult the rest of us who want life to return to normal.
