"Woke" is a convenient new epithet to toss around.
It seems to mean "not racist".
If it doesnt mean that then...I am not sure what it does mean. |

Well...we can compromise.
Allow Furries to have conventions, and encourage children to come, but ALSO mandate conceal and carry guns -especially AR15s at these conventions.
Kids seeing Furries is bad. But kids being shot by AR 15s in school (ergo any place else) is okay. So...it cancels out! |

Glacier differs too.
We yanks say "GLAY-shur".
Upper class Brits like David Attenborough say "GLASS-ee-er". Harder to say. But since ice IS rather glass-like in appearance it has a certain visual logic to it. |

the 2024 Republican presidential candidate had 'sucked the pleasure out of many of life's little joys.' Life's little joys like exposing children to obscenely explicit sexual performances. Those poor furries. Since youre an expert on the Furry subculture could you please elaborate upon this, and ex... |

An elderly gentleman is a "geezer" (prounced "geezer"). Old Faithful in Yellowstone Park is pronounced "GUY-zer" or "GUY-ser". No, no, no. You American types always get it wrong  :P A geezer in Britain is a general term for a man of any age. It depends ... |

Can you explain that because I have no idea what you mean? It sounds interesting though. If "breeding" individuals grew antlers, or a showy fan of tail feathers. It's impossible for Humans to do so, of course, (though some of our "relatives" do have a certain... um lost word aga... |

"Maths" looks and sounds odd to us Americans. But Americans say ceramics, linguistics, electronics, ballistics, statistics, physics, to name a few fields of endeavor that dont have any obvious need to be plural. So both sides of the Atlantic are being a bit arbitrary in their choice on that. |

Yeah. The Saudies have been playing four dimensional chess for a long time. Being our loyal friends...while funding militant schools in Pakistan and allowing (even bankrolling) its citizens to ...hijack airliners to fly into our buildings. On that map both parties to this naval marriage look to be a... |

How do Brits pronounce the other words on the list?
In the US there is divide between the literate and the illiterate when saying "Byzantine".
The educated say "biz-AN-TEEN". The illiterate say "uhhhhh....BUY...uhhhh...ZAN-teen". |

I know Umberto Eco primarily as a writer of fictional murder mysteries set in the Middle Ages. Like "the Name of the Rose". |

Supposedly Iran (and its allies) and the Saudies and its allies have secretly agreed merge their navies to guard the Persian Gulf (to boot the US out?). Only Iran has confirmed this. Iran and the Saudies forming a joint navy would be like Biden and Putin agreeing to create a joint US-Russian army. I... |
