Any other ENTPs out there? [crickets] I used to think that being extroverted was weird for a neurodivergent. Now, I wonder if taking the initiative to meet new people constantly isn't just an advanced form of masking. I know what happens if I don't approach others. I am ostracized. When I act confid... |

I mean, I had to argue with my partner for an hour in the car to make him understand that I wasn't "disregarding" my brother-in-law's tone when he said something at Christmas. It took that long for someone who lives in the same house as me to understand that he could sense something that I... |

Microaggressions are a real and valid concept. The issue in most of these cases people are telling is that the people accusing each of you of microagressions are using the term incorrectly. I will explain. According to Oxford Languages, a "microaggression" is "a statement, action, or ... |

Being that I have an eidetic memory, I happened to remember a dress that the executive director was wearing the first time I went. During the third time, she let a close friend of hers borrow the dress. Being me, I tried to make a comment and remembered the executive director wearing it three years... |

It could be that you are in the right kind of living situation / job / environment that you needed to thrive. If so, that is awesome. I think my expression of ASD has changed over time, for sure. I'm not nearly as bothered by seams in clothing or tags on shirts as I used to be (to be fair, a lot of ... |

Hi! Can people with ASD become good teachers? I understand that it is not black and white, ie ot is probably more complicated than a yes or no answer. I ask this because I am at a place (for people with ASD and ADHD) where they have a music teacher with ASD. I thought he would be great for me but s... |

Although they didn't say it directly, my money is on computer learning being to blame for this. -or rather, this journalist's struggle to understand and communicate how computer learning works. If I'm right, then it's a big fishing trip, not the type of a priori hypothesis testing many of us are mos... |

To even read a children's encyclopedia at three years of age is "advanced." Most three-year-olds wouldn't know how to position a book to read it. Some might even tear off the pages. And people wouldn't really look askance at them; they are only three, after all :) Encyclopedias were my ja... |

Anyways, what I later realized at the end was that they assume all Americans are "Mises" people. Near the university, but not on the property, is the Mises Institute. Basically, its crackpot economics and they form the basis for right wing economics. For example, they reject the use of ma... |

A lot of graduate school depends on other professors giving you a chance. If you get a professor to like you, they will give you access to data sets and such that you couldn't get otherwise. I agree with this too. It's all about making connections to ensure funding and opportunities. To make those ... |

I can be good at recognizing patterns and I've always been good with animals, but I am not thought of as gifted by the people around me. I certainly don't think of myself that way. I was not marked as gifted as a kid either. I was put in the slow classes. I do have a PhD and run my own research lab ... |

As a kid I loved trains, I loved everything about them expect for their god forsaken whistles. My parents fed my obsession with them by getting me a model train sets to play with, and taking me to rail road musuems. In 1985 my dad even built me a small HO scale train set in the basement for me to p... |

I know I'm the exception and not the rule, but I have always enjoyed talking to new people / strangers. Maybe it's because it's low stakes. If I say something stupid or break the rules, I don't have to see that person again and they have no obligation to talk to me again if they don't want to. I thi... |

I hate pantyhose, tights, and women's activewear. The texture is terrible and it clings too tightly to my body. Sometimes it feels like nothing else is available in my size. It seems like a distinct fashion movement, that or a conspiracy. Stores don't have to make clothes that actually fit different... |

There are many conditions that result in executive dysfunction besides autism, like ADHD which I have. There are actually 8 executive functions. 1. Self-Control The ability to stop and think before acting 2. Emotional Control The ability to manage feelings to achieve goals and complete tasks 3. Tas... |
