It makes no difference. They mean the same thing.

How would this work for Aspergers Syndrome? Are you a "person with Aspergers syndrome"? Or are you "Aspergic?"

I can't cope with this any more. I had two months when I was banished from the bathroom due to a foul smelling "air freshener", and had to have my showers at the gym, and dreaded going to the toilet (and I go to the toilet a lot). I have a problem with a pervert who comes to my upstairs wi...

I'm going to make an educated guess that it will get worse with time, but I can't say for sure. Personally, I would be unlikely to get it fixed for cosmetic reasons. No one is perfect, surgery is expensive, and even then, it may not achieve perfect results. However, if it is affecting your breathing...

No. I'm not aware of anything that would have been particularly useful. Usually when people go on about assistive technology, it ends up being silly things like expensive software for drawing "mind maps" (which can be done much easier with a pen and paper), or "smartphone apps" w...

Not much until recently.

I've over done it on the painkillers and sleeping pills far too often, and my arm and leg are getting an ever increasing number of scars.

It does indeed need to be about me. I just don't know what to do. Nothing will get me the last 17 years of my life back, and I think enough damage has been done that I don't have much of a future.

I met a guy earlier on this year whom I really liked. We were dating for a while. He lived some distance away, but I wasn't too bothered. I was starting to think he might be Mr Perfect. Then he decided he didn't like me in a romantic way :(. Now I'm feeling even lonelier than I was last year. Oh wel...

It is difficult to say. The diagnosis was done mostly for political reasons. It is possible that the social anxiety could be a diagnosis in its own right and not part of AS. I have also suffered from depression since 2006 which doesn't help matters. So its really difficult to say whether any symptom...

I was diagnosed with Aspergers in 2005. As I've explained in other topics, this diagnosis has had a bad impact on my life and was used just to cause harassment and distress. I can't stop thinking about whether I should get a second opinion. After the amount of upset my Mother's meddling caused me, t...

They sound like perfectly reasonable questions to ask in a survey about determining how prejudiced people are. I suppose it could have been written slightly more sensitively, but I don't really see the problem. Its not like they are actually telling people that autistics need to be institutionalised...

I'm not sure what triggered it, but I was just thinking back to an incident that happened about 15 years ago. My mother and grandparents took me to a large shoe shop one evening at the local retail park. There was some dispute about something (can't remember what), which resulted in a lot of shoutin...

I've written in another thread about how my mother and my school teachers colluded to make me ill with stress, so that they could force me to get diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome, and use the AS as an excuse to harass me further, including some nonsense "therapy". Consequently, I became q...

Probably because there's nothing better. It's the last resort. That shows the lack of support for suicidal autistic people, which in turn shows that ultimately people don't really care. All this "caring" is a formality. People need to pretend to care to make the world look like a better p...

Just wondering if someone could enlighten me... A common theme I see on Autism/Aspergers forums is that people very much struggle to use the telephone, perhaps because you cannot see the person you are talking to, or you have to talk to people you don't know. This makes a lot of sense, but I also no...

I saw someone with an I have Autism card dangling around their neck the other week. How the people who wear these things haven't been beaten up for it yet I do not know. Anyway, maybe someone could enlighten me. Why do these alert cards always contain spaces for 'Emergency Contacts'? Some of the mor...
