We have to be prepared for the potential repressive, “fascistic” type situations. We are still a democracy with relative freedom….but there are forces which seek to overthrow this. We must be vigilant and aware of this potential. Otherwise, we will be swept and inundated by the forces of reactionari...

There’s a bad side to unions, too. No doubt about it. But, in the present climate, unions are relevant again. I never experienced quite what Fnord experienced. I’m a union man who does his job. I “sweep my workbench.” I “load paper into printers.” I understand owning a small business is tough. If on...

Rioting in the Capitol building. Breaking windows. Threatening Mike Pence verbally and in writing. Having tools of hanging in their possession. Breaking into congresspeople’s offices. Attempting to prevent the certification of an election. PRETTY MAJOR STUFF! Almost at a level with the British setti...

Vaccines causing autism was never a “valid theory,” either—but this connection is often said to have been “debunked.”

I'm glad this has been "put to rest."

I'm glad the "gut dysphoria" thing has been debunked.

You could be a plumber in an exotic locale :)

There’s an especial need for skilled trades in “third world” areas.

I'm sorry you had this encounter with your boss. Sounds like he's an Elon Musk type.

If I were you, I would seek to stick it out as long as possible. And to interview for other jobs, and get that job before you resign from your present job.

Here's some friendly advice:

I would stop caring what other people think, and just continue to work in the bookstore, and do what you want to do when you're not in the bookstore.

I was washing my clothes in a laundromat when some parts of the world went to 2000. My wife and I watched "New Years Rockin' Eve," then we "broke bread," and had a sip of champagne. I was two days from turning 39 years old. I never thought Y2K would realize itself. All they had t...

It's a bit easier for UK residents to live without unions than it is for Americans to live without unions.

Workers in the UK have more rights, in general, than workers in the US. They have more recourse, even without unions, for when an employer wants to fire them.

The reason “penetration” is emphasized is because it’s the only way people reproduce. The only "natural" way. But not all couples want to make children at all. But they still want to be together. Of course. I know quite a few people like the above. Including me, who doesn't have any kids.

I have nothing against “alternative” ways of satisfaction.

The Holodomor was a major genocide committed against Ukrainians in the early 30s. How can it not be etched in people’s memories?

Poles, I sense, feel a kinship with Ukrainians.

I believe Trump didn’t know who Fuentes was.

Ye pulled a fast one on him.

Still, it is hoped that Trump gets indicted for his crimes.
