I'm hopeless at it. I can tinker quite successfully with laptops, but that probably doesn't count. I've never used a drill, and wouldn't know where to start if I tried to put up a shelf or something.

Do you have much to do with your neighbours?

I was buying a lot online until about 6 months ago, including lots of ancient laptops, which had become an obsession of mine, but recently very little. I always buy food and drink in the supermarket, and do so on a daily basis.

Do you like DIY in the house?

My income is around £14,000 per annum. That's more than enough to cover my lifestyle. I could just about get by on around £9,000 if I had to. But if we get serious inflation over the next couple of years and beyond, it could all look very different....

Do you buy a lot of things online?

(Isabella): I have difficulty taking authority figures seriously. I've always seen them as essentially ludicrous. However, I've sometimes been intimidated by them.

(theprisoner): Probably the 1950s.

(Hero of Hyrule): I actually was a teacher (11-18 year olds) for 20 years. I was hopeless at it to begin with, as I wasn't intending to do it long term and hadn't put any thought into how to go about it. I really should have been sacked. Then I got to grips with it, and was really good at it for a d...

(Hero of Hyrule): Yes, I was pretty good at most subjects, and excelled in two or three. However, in the subjects I disliked, or more often, disliked the teacher, I deservedly got poor grades, as I made little effort and sometimes annoyed the teachers.

Would you ever want to be a teacher?

Last time I tried (about a dozen years ago), four or five. Probably couldn't even manage that now - and I'm not going to try!

Do you, or did you, enjoy sitting examinations?

I was timing some DVD recordings today with the aid of my watch and its alarm function, when it struck me that I bought this watch in July 2007, and it's still on its original battery. Now that is impressive, IMO. It's one of the legendary Casio F-91W type, by the way, and it cost £8 at the time.
