Sure it's discussed in the major media at least the race and sex part. You are more correct about the heterosexual part not being discussed. http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/white-men-have-much-to-discuss-about-mass-shootings/2013/03/29/7b001d02-97f3-11e2-814b-063623d80a60_story.html http://ww... |

Executive Functioning deficits in Autism does not get talked about nearly as much social "deficits" because social abilities is the priority for the nueromajority world so when they write about us that is what they discuss. And after years of being told how "wrong" we are socially we prioritize that... |

I've been monitoring the news, and as far as I can tell, yes, a few NTs are blaming Newtown on Asperger's; but even more are maintaining that Asperger's doesn't have anything to do with it, and quoting statistics that show that people with AS have crime rates similar to the general public. Yes, the... |

It occurs to me that some diagnosticians go around bragging about their expertise and how many Aspies they have diagnosed. I have never seen that. I have seen a psychologist who was on the DSM brag about "undiagnosing" 90% of his clients and never diagnosing anybody who has a secretary. http://www.... |

I think it is overdone. The worst part of it is trying to wake up when it is dark and going to the bus or train tired and cold at dawn. Daylight Savings should not be if effect when it causes good chunk of the morning to be dark and the light in the evening to be useless because it is cold out. I wo... |

Lack of motivation for some things and hyperfocus for others is related to executive function deficits common with people with Aspergers. That means we only have a certain amount of mental energy. Christine Miserandino came up with a way of explaining this. While not about aspergers per say a lot of... |

That is the whole point if I can do it you can all do it. : While a lot of could do better if they only tried harder or tried at all this is not true for everybody. While I truly believe you want everybody to be happy and it does seem to "inspire" people a lot of us have heard this "inspirational" ... |

but there are so many people who have aspergers and love being called "aspergers" and nothing else, and the DSM 5 took that right away. People can call themselves whatever they want. Nothing was "taken away". There is no conspiracy. People can call themselves what they want but but what I have noti... |

If you need help, then it is worth the attempt. Even if the doctor who evaluates you does not or cannot diagnose with AS, you may get another diagnosis that can help you get SSI or Vocational Rehabilitation. I am also in California, and I have compiled a small list of specialists. They may not be i... |

For myself I do not fear getting undiagnosed because of the person who diagnosed me and because according to the DSM 5 your old diagnosis is supposed be carried over under the new name. I do fear not being able to get benefits if I want them in the future due to a economic or civil collapse of the U... |
