I did a personality test when I was in my 20s and the results said I was an introvert. I strongly felt that didn't fit me, especially when I read in the author's notes that people shouldn't try to change their personalities because it wasn't possible. So I rejected it and put a lot of work into tryi...

If you mean unpleasant thoughts as in violent thoughts, most humans get those, because we are predators.

I used to get those now and then, but I found them quite pleasant, revenge being sweet and all that.

Sometimes I think that Trump never really talks to anybody but his own supporters, even when he's supposed to be talking to relatively well-educated, intelligent people, that every word he utters is just to please his uneducated fan base back home. So it wouldn't surprise me if those with better-hon...

1) Do you drink socially with your friends? Do you have any friends/family members who drink socially? I haven't done that for a few years. Nothing particularly against it except that buying alcohol while out tends to cost an awful lot compared to supermarket prices. But I hardly ever go to bars or...

No complaint from me so far. I've been rather enjoying the large-ish number of brand new threads, many of which were quite interesting to me. Frankly I hadn't even noticed they were all from the same OP until I read it here. But I don't know if I'd feel the same way if you increased your output mass...

I've always been prone to anxiety, but it hasn't overwhelmed me so far, though it's sometimes felt close to doing that. I don't think I've ever been clinically depressed - I've probably felt no more miserable than the average person, and it's usually been a function of some crap I've been going thro...

My son is now 40 years old, and seems to be doing quite well. He's got a partner, a "good" job, his own home, a few friends and some rewarding leisure pursuits. I have a few misgivings about my parenting days, but they're of the kind that many parents tend to feel, the biggest one being th...

Don't know how true this is, but I've read that when they assess drug safety, they tend to exclude people with ASD from the data set, hence they frequently don't know how safe or dangerous a lot of these drugs are to us. It's also a common suspicion that the pharmaceutical companies have a strong pr...

I think it goes both ways. We can also tend to forget to eat for prolonged periods of time as well. Not to mention how difficult it has become to know what we should and shouldn't be eating because of the way that food has been engineered to be as addictive as possible in many cases. That's me - fo...

I'm secular anyway, but I'll offer my thoughts: 1. My own ASD is a mixed bag of strengths and weaknesses, so I've often thought that I'd be wary of accepting an irreversible cure even if it had no side effects. Even if I were to accept the claims of religion about the cause of illness, it would stil...

Note how the scoring ignores the difference between answering "definitely" and "slightly." I don't know why they don't factor that in, as it seems important. But they don't. So why do they ask for that granularity if they aren't genuinely interested?

I don't have any great physical or sensory aversion to eye contact. I just don't understand it very well, and in some ways I don't quite condone it. I guess it's not so important in a multicultural society where everybody has different ideas on what's good form and what isn't, and I've spent a lot o...

The DVLC in the UK assumes that if you can pass a driving test, you can drive, and ASD as such is no bar to being allowed to drive. In practice, I've noticed a few things where it's possible that ASD has given me driving problems. My driving instructors certainly weren't ASD-aware (neither was I at ...

The only objective thing I can claim it to be is a neurotype. Whether or not it manifests as a disorder or a strength depends on what the individual concerned is trying to do under whatever the prevailing circumstances happen to be. Those with ASD are probably often at an overall disadvantage within...
