I don't know. Depends what you mean by guilt. That could mean simply proof that the offender committed the crime, or it could mean proof that the offender exercised free choice about whether or not to do it. I don't believe in free will, so I think it would be a very drastic thing to execute an off...

Yeah. I mean, truth be told in my life, I basically was just referring to work or incidental encounters with folks in life, not necessarily in my personal life. Me neither, my ideas would be for who to talk to and work with (assuming there's any choice) as well as for deeper friendships. I don't se...

There should be the death penalty for that, certainly.

^ I remember having this depressing thought when I was a teenager, that everybody is into their own exclusive box so friendship can't possibly be the intimate thing I'd always hoped it could be. It seems we have to be content with a few scraps when interests happen to overlap. If we manage to consid...

I actually think it's fairly easy to spot fellow autists. I feel validated in this because I have heard the famous English therapist who specializes in autism say the same thing, that he can just tell by talking to or watching someone. And having awareness of noticing those on the spectrum enables ...

it is getting harder and harder not to be too embarrassed to admit i live in amuuuurica. As long as you don't leave the country there's no reason to be embarrassed. Everybody around you also lives here. I live in the USA for most of the time these days, and I'm not embarrassed at all. Wasn't my fau...

^ My latest project started a few days ago when I thought "as I mostly eat fairly standardised meals and snacks these days, it shouldn't be hard to grab all the nutrient data for the ingredients, write a simple program to crunch the numbers, and find out whether I'm getting too much or not enou...

I don't know about socially acceptable vs socially unacceptable special interests, but anything theoretical or academic it seems like is a conversation killer. Acceptable topics of conversation include sports, a TV show or some kind of skill related hobby like guitar, learning Spanish or cooking. N...

It rather presupposes that autism is caused by metal exposure. I have my doubts about that. As for intervening before there's a problem, I think the wisest thing would be just to keep an eye on the client, certainly not to barge in with interventions. If it ain't broke......

My GP warned me that even after a DX I still wouldn't know for sure. But the balance of probabilities shifted quite a lot, and even more so when my past and present behaviour started to make more sense in the light of ASD. So I still don't know, but the doubt feels negligible. It'll certainly do for...

I’m sorry, I’m having trouble comprehending how a “non invasive”cap can “emit(..) light into the brain” Skulls are opaque, are they not? Yes I'm rather surprised that they would be able to not only penetrate bone, but also take meaningful measurements of what got reflected back or transmitted out o...

I certainly don't do much initiating with people. Rather than being proactive, I work by sometimes reacting strongly to what other people initiate, so if they start a ball rolling, I might give it a strong push forward if I'm particularly glad the started that particular ball. In this way I've had q...

Not sure that it's common for ASD itself to get worse with age though. Maybe it's just that any deterioration with age simply adds to the problems of life?
