At 4:20 P.M . Morse seemed to rally a little and held his hand up for the nurse. 'I’m allowed a drop more Scotch?' he whispered. She poured out the miserably small contents of the second miniature and held a jug of water over the glass. 'Yes?' 'No,' said Morse. She put her arm around his shoulders,...

Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta. She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at ...

My Spanish teacher says that no language has rules. It's just that people force rules upon a language to make it easier for foreigners to learn. When people speak in the real world, most of the time they're not going to think about rules, or if they should use a word from their own language or a dif...

I agree that the boy's teacher was mean. But honestly, when I was a bit younger than the boy, (age 4 to 5) my teacher did much worse things without ever making it to the news. Same here, but then that is the thing with internet and social media attention can be brought to incidents like this more e...

I feel like that there are people who really enjoy and care about me, but I just can't reciprocate the feeling to their level of intensity. For some people, I am completely indifferent toward them, but they seem to be really attatched to me. When I was younger, I thought people who said that they w...

For the most part, I eat to live. If nobody reminds me to eat, or if there isn't a schedule to follow, then I'll just forget to eat. For that reason, my dad worries a little about my independent living skills. That being said, I sometimes do eat because it tastes good, and not because I'm actually h...

There is a father who says his child was ALREADY diagnosed with autism, but THEN regressed. He called it "autism on top of autism?" and wonders if his child has childhood disintegrative disorder. After reading this post http://www.theautismdaddy.com/2011/06/story-of-kyles-major-regression-...

I know that inappropriate affect is not uncommon among autistics. You're not alone.

I sometimes have this problem, but I've never actually gotten into trouble for it.

Right now, autism can only be defined as a set of behaviours. Perhaps there are many reasons why a person exhibits those behaviours. For one person, it might be something in the environment. For another person, it is genetic. Who knows, maybe there is a rare person who was allergic to something in a...

I can only speak for myself. By age 8, countless children have called me wierd, but I didn't care. I knew I was different, but I couldn't pinpoint what exactly was different. So I embraced the "weird" status. My autism was diagnosed at age 14. While I did not feel trapped inside my own bod...

The kind of denial I face from my parents is where they've accepted that I have a new label, that I'm called autistic now; while having no idea how this translates to every day life, and no interest in learning. Nothing's changed, they still want me to do things I can't do, and get offended when I ...

The ADA is in effect. Have you disclosed your diagnosis to the school, or did you just tell the teacher about it? I have disclosed my diagnosis to an administration person at school and have three classes that I get accommodations in. This class, however, is not one of them. I don't go to a public ...

I hope that they just do a movie to provide closure to Season 10's ending. If they produce another whole season, then I really hope that they don't do a cliff-hanger ending to ensure that fans will start demanding for another season. I love the X-Files, but everything has to come to an end. I don't ...
