More programs to enable people to get jobs by proving their skills rather than via the traditional interview process. The latter is extremely difficult for many autistic people to handle. The unfair interview process has always been an annoyance of mine when job hunting. I can understand imprtance ...

Anyone take any vitamin / natural health supplements that work?

In the past ive taken magnesium, zinc b6 q10 and much more with temporary improvements in mental well being then after a few days it wears off.

Really annoying when you find something that you think works then it doesnt.

It was recommended that I start a thread on this topic: Autism advocates often cite acceptance / accommodations as opposed to treating autism as something to be treated or cured, as a means to tackling the serious difficulties faced by many who are autistic. This is often criticized by some as being...

Autism is basically a Neuronal migration disorder, with as yet unknown genetic / environmental causes. This is also the probable cause of many other conditions such as Schizophrenia, epilepsy and many more. So research into autism cannot be seperated, they are all basically linked to similar mechani...

Second, why are some schools allowed to be nothing more than warehouses for people with ASDs? Whay is there no effort in such schools to treat people with ASDs as individual human beings, rather than livestock that must be kept and herded? Yes ive noticed this disturbing development in ordinary sch...

To get back to the topic, of not being superhuman and to respond to your question... I used the word accepting as a response to your usage of it in the quoted text. What is your definition? Does it stretch beyond kindness and job opportunities? Basically "acceptance" means different thing...

The negative symptoms as you call them wouldn't be as disabling if the world was more accepting. The word "accepting" is ambiguous, please explain outside of job opportunities and kindness from others, specifically what you mean? How would it help you live independently and function fully?

There needs to be more awareness and opportunities for autistic people. Given the prev comments though its clear that "acceptance" works both ways. Society needs to be kinder to those with all mental health issues, but we also need to accept that given our negative symptoms its hardly supr...

The above is one of many differences between autistic brains and NT brains that I've seen mentioned in scientific literature. Be that as it may, if the above is indeed a significant cause of autism, it implies that a total "cure" is not even theoretically possible, short of some extremely...

The “severe” autism lobby, those promoting a false dichotomy of “mild” and “severe” autism, which primarily leans on the falsehood that non-speaking autistics are severely intellectually disabled. They dehumanize non-speakers by perpetuating misinformed assumptions about their competence and by pos...

If this was something going on in my head then the autistic community wouldnt be divided. There wouldnt be such thing as an anti neurodiversity pushback by many. This is common knowledge, i posted plenty of links showing this in the past, anyone can find them if they choose to. Of course im aware th...

Yes, its sad if you want to get really basic about it, it’s because I believe neurodiversity steals from us, and encroaches on our rights in two main ways: - 1. It steals the voice of those most disabled and in pain, like silencing a drowning man. They often whitewash autism (see link), you`ll often...

Just to clarify I support opportunity and better rights for autistic people especially in the workplace. What I don’t support is the creeping “groupthink” that comes from identity politics, that solidifies a policy that is not always in the interest of the individual. We see this happening with the ...

Wrong Planet is a support forum, first and foremost and always, so an anti-neurodiversity stance which is aggressively presented as adamant fact to push a defectiveness story of AS can be offensive to many members. Depends on if people want a diversity of opinion and scientific facts or an echo cha...
