I think he 'got done' because he'd abused other kids in the past. The police were looking for him or something. I'm not sure exactly, to say I felt so 'grown up' I can't remember all the details. Mum kept a fair bit from me. Also it wasn't just talking, it was things which could be read as platonic ...

My NT mother. Especially ones without social anxiety. She loves the confidence it takes to be unique and be oneself. The two men she's liked the most in her life have been, well not diagnosed aspie but she calls them aspie and they act totally aspie. It's probably unhealthy but she also prefers me b...

Actually a lot of the things over from the US wouldn't be allowed to be made by the BBC. Especially the English BBC which used to have great comedy but is totally neutered now. If you want proper comedy from the UK these days, ask a Scot like Frankie Boyle. S... is controversial in English speaking ...

No. My NT mother has it. She makes everyone pity her instead of arguing properly. Aspies are more honestly aggressive. But sometimes people think aspies are being passive aggressive because they're not acting NT enough so they're not smiling or being friendly and they need their own space. I don't k...

Is accent mimicry an autistic thing? I don't mean doing it on purpose which generally comes off as mean. I hope it doesn't come off as mean when I do it. Basically when I hear someone with a strong accent talk for long enough, my accent becomes their accent. So when I was growing up, I had a Skye ac...

This guy I met at the weekend. Not in a het way which I'm sure my compliments sounded like to him even though I said 'I'm gay' he probably felt like 'and I'm the exception, hot'... Not even envy which I thought it was at first. It's pride. He has all the traits I used to get made fun of for, he has ...

Yeah, I just keep thinking if I heard a kid had been touched how would I feel? Especially one who was under my care (mum was away in America at the time). But I know what it's like to not care. It was only watching Finding Neverland which made me feel like I'd been groomed/aware of the problem actua...

Yeah that's true. Also radicalism doesn't just happen from reading things you agree with. I figured out one reason I've been feeling so down lately is a deliberate effort to break out of my bubble by going to the opposition stuff all the time and that's been making me feel really bad and called out ...

That's not a good enough reason to believe that no one missed you , not everyone uses that thread and not everyone says if they miss someone. Also as this is an autistic website , I'd like to point out that lot of people on the spectrum have an ‘Out of sight, out of mind’ trait , it's not personal ...

I checked the who do you miss thread :( And because all I spoke about was one topic and most people on here don't get the topic. I kept using here as a dumping ground for things I should have brought up months later with other friends. I'm trying to treat this more as a place where I actually think ...

I feel like my stepdad doesn't care or want to talk about what happened. When I was 13, this guy touched my bare leg and talked to me about sex. He was in his 30s. I'm very tomboyish to the point of trans and he was saying 'our boys have sex with our men' after I told him what my interests were... (...

Guys, I figured it out. I was being over literal. When she said 'don't talk to people' she meant 'don't feel the need to go up to strange men you don't know and start a conversation you don't know how to have because you have something in common'. That's why she's ok with it all the rest of the time...

Yeah, I was wondering if I'd be the only one aspie enough to notice/be bothered by that.

I'm in the 30-39 bracket.

(It's TUF. I'm breaking this down without talking about football) This is basically what the issue is. I suspect my stepdad is basically HFA but old so undiagnosed. He acts very aspie (and embarrassing) in an extroverted way where he trusts everyone in the world. He doesn't understand social roles l...
