It blows my mind regarding elections. With rights come responsibilities. If people want to vote, they get ID, usually long before voting age. You don’t have photos for NHS, school ID, or driving licences? I’m totally flummoxed Don't need ID for NHS and there is no such thing as school ID Full drivi... |

Buying alcohol in supermarkets is more strict here now. They have signs up saying if you look under 25 you need to show ID. Many don't adhere to it and I often see young lads buying alcohol through the self check outs when i go shopping. But no doubt some shops follow the rule and make it harder. Pu... |

I don’t get it. What’s so hard about getting photo ID especially once you are age of majority, and why should people be allowed to vote without proving who they are? How do young people get into pubs, get healthcare services, drive car, leave the country, go to school, or anything else without ID? ... |

I thought most older people (over 60) voted labour Older people have always voted very heavily in favour of the Tories 2019 pushed that even further so it was the first election where all working age category of voters voted majority for Labour, and retired age category were the only group who vote... |

A nice explanation from the London School of Economics https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandpolicy/no-id-no-vote-voter-id-comes-to-great-britain/ Finishing with: "In this context, rushing through the introduction of voter ID in Great Britain is more than just problematic, it is indicative of an a... |

In addition, older people are clearly advantaged in this legislation - which suggests favoring certain electorate. That is not what fair elections are supposed to be. I totally agree that they should announce it, but I disagree that identification as a concept is politically biased. Identification ... |

Again. You've missed the big picture. People should have valid identification because they're functioning members of the society, not because they just need it to vote. It's not that hard to understand. That is not how our society functions, and so is not how our elections should function Seems lik... |

I think some here are missing the point that having a valid form of identification is an exercise of personal responsibility. It has nothing to do with voting, and everything to do with just having an identification document in general. It is only to do with voter suppression to help one party with... |

In the last election 4 people were found guilty of election fraud. The Governments own data says this move will mean that hundreds of thousands will not be able to vote at the next election. But they will be mostly younger, poorer people and so in the demographic least likely to vote Conservative. T... |

I'm genuinely curious.
The reasons politicians wanted it and why the public voted for it were very very different |

Ever since the days when Labour took over from the Liberals as the main competing party against the Conservatives, my Grandad said that Labour would overspend which would force the Conservatives to make cut backs when they came in to power, and the cut backs needed to get us in the UK out of debt w... |

I don't agree with, for example, the song Fairytale Of New York sung by the Pogues being taken off the radio after being a loved Christmas classic for so many years because it apparently is offensive to gay people. I don't like that song myself as I find it depressing but a lot of people love it an... |
