When a movement advocates for redefining language, advocating for different version of US history, advocating a complete rearrangement or elimination of law enforcement, advocate for the end of the nuclear family, and engage in iconoclasm that movement is using marxian tactics, your movement is rev...

Makes me wonder if it would have been better for him to never have been charged at all. What if Rosenbaum or Huber had been your son? would you say that then. Would depend on if I could have seen into the future and known he'd not only be acquitted, but heralded, wouldn't it? To clarify: cyber is a...

Seeing a jury pick and choose among all the charges, and providing different outcomes to different defendants, gives me a lot of confidence that they worked hard at trying to get it right.

... two very different cases, both of which, it can be argued, were correctly decided. They were both lawfully decided.  "Correctly" is a matter of conjecture, and is being argued in another thread. Point. But … remember my qualifier: “it can be argued.” And I might add to that: “it can b...

Their respective publicists probably arranged it.

I really hate how the right is using and influencing Rittenhouse. Makes me wonder if it would have been better for him to never have been charged at all.

Maybe juries are actually able to understand the evidence and how the law applies to it.

You are trying to compare two very different cases, both of which, it can be argued, were correctly decided.

I didn't say everyone in the BLM *movement* is a Marxist. I was saying it has been reported that the *organisers* are Marxists. I know. At this point in time, the phrase, the concept, the movement, and the support have very, very little to do with the founders. The three words have a life of their ...

Agreed. At some point people have to responsibility for where they put their pain and anger.

A reality-impairing mental illness could be different but we’re not seeing a trail suggesting any history of that.

I'm absolutely flabbergasted that he wasn't immediately remanded, with no hope of bail. He would surely have been remanded in New York State. By the way: there is no death penalty in Wisconsin. I’m guessing the bail guidelines are pretty strict. 5 dead = 5M. Rittenhouse was 2 dead = 2M. Obviously t...

She hasn't caught me making a logical error, yet, so some skunks do escape her. The thing with skunks is that you can’t get too close or they will spray you. You choose the description; I’m just applying it. Literally. It may seem surprising given some of our conversations, but I prefer n...

It may have escaped you but ... Things don't escape me. Please don't condescend to me by implying they do. I'm more than capable of reading threads and posts, and having my own opinion on human behaviour. It was in response to DW Thanks for clarifying. I don't want to speak for DW, but I'm quite su...

Jefferson deplored slavery in theory----but he was economically dependent upon the "peculiar institution." Lots of contradictions in the man...... Important historic men almost always seem to be full of contradictions, don’t they? We are going to have to learn how to embrace the good thin...

Assuming the theory is true, it is worth remembering that it only applies to Island nation of Japan. The virus is under going different mutations elsewhere. The virus is, like any other living thing, mutating in hopes of increasing its own survival. Some attempts succeed, others fail.

I think the answer is in your post, the local official who moth balled the proposal and keeps getting elected. Your neighbors don’t really want a higher learning institution in their town, or at least not enough to prioritize it over other things. Meanwhile, COVID moved more and more courses on-line...

If Trump were elected to a second term, I believe we would have deserved, wholeheartedly, that designation. We were strongly veering that way under Trump. This remains the unaddressed conundrum in my view. Why populist anti-democratic leaders are now so appealing to millions of Americans? At a time...

BTW, I have noticed a moderated style in regard to you engaging with me. I've been less stressed out lately. I'm not good at holding back a beat when I'm stressed out; more likely to just react. Like most humans, I think. If you have a puritanical position regarding sexuality, please do not read wh...
