I don't drink coffee.

Ever get caught by the Conservation Police at the lake after dark for doing something you shouldn't be doing in public with a member of the opposite sex?

Getting very summer-like here, right now, with temps in the low 90s and heat indices climbing close to 100 degrees. I don't mind it it all.

That makes sense. Anything done out of a sense of caring can't be bad. But watch out for those high-calorie items.

Wow, you're getting a virtual smorgasbord of food. Nice work!

Perhaps they genuinely worry about you being too thin -- or they're jealous of your thinness.

I think you're onto a great scam, here. Maybe I should try to cultivate a starving look so I can get more free food. It would cut down on the monthly grocery bills quite a lot, I'll bet.

There's nothing better than a free meal, right? Well, I could do with out the force feeding part, myself, since I had quite enough of that from my grandmother when I was a kid. If I didn't finish everything on my plate, she would start shoveling it down against my will. What I should have done was u...

So many books to read, and so little time! Only today, I picked up from the library 'The Righteous Mind' by Jonathan Haidt because somebody on this forum recommended it. I have just finished reading 'A Rough Ride to the Future' by James Lovelock (who originated the idea of Gaia). It's a slim volume...

Exactly! I sometimes have entire conversations with another person all by myself. It's preferable to the real thing.

I use Firefox, and while it doesn't crash when I'm on WP, I do get quite a few "script errors" and temporary freeze ups. It's not doing that anywhere else.

If you drop an ice cream cone on the sidewalk, one day you will be torn apart by a pack of hyenas.

This will sound cheesy, but I would describe myself as a man who is seeking to understand violence. And, as an Aspie, my biggest problem in life has been that I feel no allegiance to any 'tribe'. Many animal species live in social groups, and many survive as individuals except during the ritual nec...

I have a strange relationship with bananas. I tended to pop one in my jersey pocket when I took bike rides of 50 miles or longer back in the days when I cycled heavily -- and now sometimes at the beginning of a long hike -- because they're quick energy, easy to eat, and loaded with potassium. But I'...

I am currently the primary caregiver for my 92-year-old mother, as I stated in my introductory post last week. At the moment, I'm having a particularly difficult time dealing with the stress and confinement of this job. The last week or so have been hell. I'm trying to get the woman to move around m...

Melancholy. (I just like the sound of that word better than "depressed.")
