I have read that hyperlexic kids can catch up on speech by the time they are 5 or so, so we have hope there. That's exactly right. The literature suggest between 4-5. In my daughter's case it was a bit later because we were hesitated before plunging her into speech therapy. Big problem for us is th...

I read some articles about hyperlexia and selective mutism when my son was younger and having a lot of issues with speech, and decided to teach him the way that I thought that I might have learned. (My parents took me to the library constantly as a child). Hyperlexia is quite a interesting conditio...

I'm not going to say that I'm a brilliant teacher, but I'm good at making, finding, and selecting videos and other speech aids. If your son is willing to sit with you for 2 hrs then you are doing well. My daughter has decided mommy will read to her while daddy is only good for horsey rides and play...

Information retrieval is where the information is actually inside of the child's head but he/she has trouble pulling it out. You may be able to jog his/her memory with something visual, like written words or pictures, or specific (particularly multiple choice) questions. We had similar feedback whe...

I wish I will quit my job for some months... I noticed that my son progresses more if he stays with me instead of therapists! It occurred that therapists were absent for 2 months so I replaced them and he progressed more during that 2 months than in the previous 4 months. I workede less, but my bos...

But when he was evaluated they said he had a cognitive delay. I have the feeling the testing just didn't engage him at all.How old was your daugher when she started to be able to have conversation (if she is able to do this.)? At the age of 4 we tried to get an assessment/diagnosis for our daughter...

Sounds exactly like my daughter, how old is your son if you don't mind me asking. He is three and a couple of months. Your daughter? I guess I never properly introduced myself here. My kid has some echolalia. He doesn't quote entire TV shows, but he does memorize songs, and changes the words around...

I think my kid speaks more than most his age but it's mostly non-communicative. Lots of jargon, lots of reciting letters and numbers (his obsession), lots of singing...lots of singing about letters and numbers! We are trying to get him to be more communicative as right now he's only communicative w...

Folding space is fiction (at this stage). Warp Speed is fiction (at this stage) and furthermore there is barely the slightest hint in the most advanced physics we have that light speed can be exceeded by a massive body. Current theory requires infinite energy to get a massive body to go at light sp...

Would you 'Christopher Columbus it' hoping and hopping from star to star? Possibly if you assume they have 21st century human technology then the modus operandi would be send ships with hibernation chambers and mining equipment and self containing biospheres to the nearest habitable planet in the n...

What about reports of about 7 or 8 other races that people claimed to have encountered over the years? I understand from the UFO Disclosure conference, held at the Washington Press Club in 2009, that these races are all related/connected to each other. three common ones; a, Hybrid Human/Grays - the...

I ultimately decided to quit the job in order to get my son back on track. You are not alone. Many of us have had to sacrifice jobs. I had an amusing conversation with a girl working at a cash register in a shopping mall. She assumed I was studying or had the day off. When I told her I was not plan...

You have absolutely no evidence whatsoever to back any of this up; only a figure you have plucked out of the air. Everyday experience does not confirm what you say and other posters here seem in agreement. I just checked with my partner and she thinks what you are suggesting is pretty absurd too (a...

Hes doing pretty well with his PECS. If he had speech it would be annoying because he would be saying 'chips' 'popcorn' 'biscuit' 'drink' constantly  He verbalises lots. I think he just gave up talking for some years, I can't imagine why he would not ever talk. Thats not the same as saying he ...

At the moment my daughter doesn't stop talking, just need to get her to listen and respond to others.
