Re: vaccinations. I'm wondering. What happens when a virus comes along that kills 99% of us within hours of catching it? Because one will come along, sooner or later. Will people object to getting vaccinated then? I don't think people who live in Ebola regions object to getting vaccinated. I think E...

btw the reason I'm so nervous about this heatwave is that for some reason, my body doesn't cool itself like other people's do. I overheat at about 25C, so 40C is unimaginable. My temperature gauge or something seems to be broken. I also have trouble warming up in intense cold weather. Although that ...

I don’t believe London has ever gone to 0 Fahrenheit, -17.8 Celsius.

London hasn't...but the North of England and Scotland regularly go to that temperature and lower e.g. -20C. They are very used to it...but not heatwaves.

Mostly common sense stuff.. keep out of the sun, cool yourself by any means possible. And here we have the heart of the matter. A large percentage of Brits do not have common sense when it comes to very hot weather because we're not used to it. They go out sunbathing, swimming, drinking in the sun....

I felt isolated as a teenager but looking back, I found a nice group of friends when I was 16+ and kept them for about 10 years. I had friends at university and afterwards but since being about 30, friends have tailed off and I only have 1 or 2 now. I think it's because I've been a stay at home mum ...

The coast will get sea breezes. You probably will be spared the worst of the heat.

Well when I say coast, I mean 20 miles inland, so it'll be pretty hot but not 40C I hope!

They are hopeless with emotions. e.g. when I lost my dad in the 1980s I was not allowed to show any emotion because that was 'attention seeking' 'making other people upset' etc. So it was fine for me, a teenage girl, to be upset but not other people??? People are more sympathetic nowadays when I te...

Don’t forget: the bad heat is only going to last 2 days.

Just take precautions, and all of you will be fine.

If you’re north of about Manchester, it won’t get as hot.

No, I'm on the south coast, the hottest place. But at least I'm not in London, that'll be the worst. The heat island.

It's my least worries and I would rather put my money somewhere else like our yard, it needs a trim. I lived without AC growing up so I live how I always had, we used fans, I wore light clothing, I played in the water, I always showered at night. Plus in Montana, I was always in the basement to kee...

Remember how hot it got in Portland in June 2021? It made World news because we were hotter than a Sahari Desert. Most of us do not have AC because we have mild warm weather. Most people who died were the elderly and the youngest was 52. Even places closed due to high heat because of no AC. Roads w...

Our AC doesn't work so live as I have always had, use fans, keep windows closed and shades Drawn, dress light, get a portable AC. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated. See if there will be any cooling centers. Any community centers that are AC, go there to keep cool. Thanks. I bought some £5 chiffo...

That is so odd. They would find me peculiar indeed since I am incredibly emotional and have no ability to hide it. They are hopeless with emotions. e.g. when I lost my dad in the 1980s I was not allowed to show any emotion because that was 'attention seeking' 'making other people upset' etc. So it ...

I hate it when I'm told 'you can't kill yourself, so many people depend on you, so many people would miss you.' That feels like I'm worthless apart from my relation to someone else. All I am is the role of mother, daughter, wife etc. Not ME! A person with a life of my own. I decided to try and think...

Wait what? I thought Britain was only sending back people who came to the country illegally recently , but not ones who got there long time ago, even if it was illegally done. I mean, I could understand giving some fines to people who entered the country illegally years ago if they hadn't been puni...

Didn't Boris hold a big party during COVID where everyone was maskless? Yes, a lot of parties while people died alone, with relatives unable to visit them in their last moments. History will not judge him well. I am not going to call him Boris because that sounds friendly and funny and approachable...

I think you are right about the attitude that many British people have towards showing emotions. I have heard that a lot. Yes, it's prevalent. They are shocked when someone shows an emotion and often ask why e.g. 'why are you so emotional after you won that competition?' A friend said to me the oth...
