if we collected a dime for every time somebody said that to us, I bet we ( collectively) could pay off the national debt |

I was punished a lot, told I was bad, evil, deliberately causing trouble, making waves, being wrong about almost everything all my childhood. By the time I got to my mid teens, I began to try to live up to what their expectations of me were. I got pretty good at being bad in my late teens and early ... |

me + alcohol = disaster. Lets just say I learned "what not to do" in a series of really painful lessons over many years before I finally "got it". slow learner, I guess but at age 71 the lesson is well learned now. My life is saner and healthier the less alcohol I allow into it. |

yes, on line and in print are my 2 favorite modes of communication, even texting/messagiing is too fast for my processing. It is much easier to use groups like this one, Facebook, and a couple other on line locations to interact because my visual processing and audio processing always leave me behin... |

the thing that finally made most connections for me (after I was diagnosed at age 68- its never too late) was joining Facebook interest groups. I have a couple intense interests and love to learn more about those, and also share info about them with others. I had to join quite a few and left most of... |

this is very familiar to me. alienated from blood family, but needing to find family of the heart. Volunteering for a service group can help make friends, help to build houses, repair homes for those who can't themselves, bring baked goods to the local seniors center, old folks home, childrens home,... |

maybe talk to a therapist about this. I do remember that episode of Mash. You might need to work on some previous trauma, it sounds like you suspect that is the case. |

what works for one person may not be the right one for you, since we are all different and have different struggles. Find a good Psychologist or Psychiatrist, or a GP depending on where you live. Ask for help with anxiety, and resign yourself to trying many, or many combinations to see how they work... |
