Wow! Thanks AngelL for this thread and everyone for the posts. This really speaks to me. Feels a bit awkward accepting thanks for posting in a desperate act of self-preservation, but I'll accept yours if you accept mine for weighing in! :) I realize that I spent ages desperately trying to fix mysel...

My opinion can certainly be attacked readily, I know; but it is just that - an opinion. I managed a strip club (The Showboat - Fairbanks, AK) many years ago. I realize it's not the same thing exactly, but we had girls working there who had come from the industry and some that later left the club to ...

No worries - I get it (I have dissociative identity disorder). Let me just set this here... ~hugs~ ...in the event you'll accept. :)

Turns out, I was wrong. Autism level 2, and not by a little bit - this isn't a borderline case. In fact, the psychologist explained, diagnostically I'm actually closer to level 1, than I am to level 3 (previously known as Aspergers). Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but I was under the impression (not...

If you don't like pumpkin pie then just don't eat it. Right - I haven't. You can sit there and pick your life apart for the next fifty years if you like but what a waste of time that would be. The examined life is not worth living? Might be a book in that. Anger about the authorities who missed you...

1. The squirrel that lives close and stops in to visit and get treats every day. He's started coming a few inches in the door when I leave it open to let me know he's here.
2. Mountain lion.
3. Alicorns!

What is your favorite tree and why? Well, it's definitely NOT my family tree... As far as type goes, I'm a big fan of flowering trees like flowering dogwoods, almond blossoms, etc. However, while I know it wasn't the point of the question, my favorite tree is the one I visit on my daily walk in the...

"a man in shrinkwrap" Look at me Do you see a difference? Neither do I And yet I’m cut off by invisible walls Walls I can’t see or feel or hear But once in a while I just know that they’re there A film over existence Keeping me away Alone (without you) In a bubble (without me) Closed off ...

But it is misleading in that if a person is diagnosed late like myself, they probably have milder symptoms & can pass as NT to strangers & even employers. Anyone under 40 in the US / Europe that have not been picked up by parents or school are almost certainly going to be Asperger’s as oppo...

Browneyedgirlslowingdown: Your post was an incredibly powerful read for me. Resonance everywhere. I too have attended ACOA and have the books; though I too, have stepped back. I currently attend NA meetings, but for very different reasons than most. I am an addict, but have gone years without meetin...

I'm going to allow you both a momentary peek inside my head. I read both of your responses - both of GadgetGuru's, along with browneyedgirl's, sat back, let them settle, and then thought, "Oh look, I found my peeps." Gadget Guru: I too was self-diagnosed up until a few days ago. At 56 year...

Hello. I have been attending twelve step meetings for some time and have about thirty years clean. I've been autistic for three days. Okay, not really - that was a bit of a joke, but I was diagnosed three days ago. Yesterday, I was stunned by the realization that the diagnosis has changed just about...

I think of therapy like I think of any relationship - I'd rather be alone than with the wrong person. That said, I have the right therapist for me. I kissed a lot of frogs before I found her. In fact, I just got diagnosed with ASD level 2 a couple hours ago at 56 years old. I've seen a LOT of crappy...

Well... congrats, I guess. Good chance it'll start making sense... Oh, it has always made sense to me - just can't figure out how the rest of the world missed it this long is all...particularly the professionals. ...and you'll get over it. Of course, but a good reminder all the same. Difference for...
