Is your diagnosis a verbal diagnosis in passing or an actual recorded on paper diagnosis? (This could have had an effect on the hospital's response). Also, the reason I believe they are hesitant to diagnose it is because a large majority of "Aspies" are just loners who people don't like, rather tha... |

I have been diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder, try looking it up, I have heard confirmation from various sources of my theory that a neglected child does not develop the parts of the brain relating to social skills resulting in similar symptoms to genetically derived Aspergers, two differ... |

Burnout, yes indeed. Our generation now in middle age did not know about the spectrum. It was sink or swim. So we tried to "fit in". We knew we were different, wrong, and had to work 2, 3, 4, 5 times as harder then everybody else to get what they got. Some of us failed and are not around anymore. Som... |

Having a characters Autistic traits be an object be an object of laughter every week on a highly rated network television show is not my idea of positive. While audience may or may not know these traits are autistic or if they call it another name they are laughing at autism. On the procedural s the... |

All the people who preach the hard knocks school of life (life owes you nothing, get up and make a difference, stop whining about your life, etc. etc.) all have a point: complaining and being bitter really and truly do not help make things better. BUT....how does one successfully adopt a positive a... |

My girlfriend diagnosed me at first. She was gentle, supportive, and suggested it might explain so much of my life that I didn't get. She was right, but I balked at first, dragged my heals, didn't want to revisit the traumas of my past having spent the first 17 years of my life labeled a "retard." ... |

In the general world of politics negative advertising to pull heartstrings is the norm. While it is effective we are not a better country for it, to put it mildly. With charity fundraising in general and with charity fundraising related to diseases, disabilities etc only with cancer have I seen any... |

I hate being in big crowds, parties with a lot of people, but I actually like the crowded streets of New York City. Everybody is into their own thing and not me. I really do get "lost in the crowd" and find it very easy to go into my own world in that situation. Executive Function we discussed in an... |

Your true self probably says rather no friends than bad friends! No, it doesn't. I really want friends. I have a friend who isn't a bad friend but can be overpowering and stressful to be around for too long, but I still rather put up with her than to have no-one. I'm like an NT - if I'm alone too l... |

I think the majority of us know that AS did not make the guy a murderer. What we do not know is why he did it, which in my opinion is a much more interesting question. Personally I don't believe in shadow organizations or whatever. I read the police report and analyzed the data from an objective st... |
