[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twAyI4LPk0Y[/youtube] I do hope that is satire. It's just on the boarder line where I can't quite tell. Yes, it is satire. Heck, Open Source is essentially a form of charity, not socialism. A person puts in work voluntarily for the benefit of others to make t...

As a citizen of a small country with what is arguably the least regulated and least protected ecconomy in the OECD I don't think 'free trade' has worked for us. We were thrust into it by disciples of the Chicago school in the mid 1980's and as a small and remote ecconomy it just does not work, with ...

Depends what you see as 'bad', I guess the worst place I've been was the powder packing room at the chemical factory I once worked. Worst city? Melbourne or Christchurch first equal for similar reasons.

I have a massive special interest in evolution, mostly evolutionary anthropology. I am a lot like your friend, when I talk about human behaviour and dating and other social things I describe it like Desmond Morris (the famous zoologist that had that "human animal" documentary series.) I do like to ...

How 'literal' are you? have you become better at grasping analogy, metaphor and sarcasm as you age?

While I wouldn't say that I'm a Marxist, I think that something should be clarified. There is an enormous distinction between the sort of religious beliefs and practices adhered to by those prehistoric "tribal societies" that are being referred to by the OP, with their fertility goddesses and myste...

Firstly, I am not generally hostile to christianity , The story of Jesus portrays quite a pleasant chap for the most part. However I am quite bemused as to what exactly makes sense in what is generally grouped as 'christian' fundamentalism. I was raised Catholic and one of the finest men I have ever...

I don't know if this has occurred to anyone else, but it strikes me as though open source software is one of the most socialist [?1] developments yet seen. It is developed fairly spontaneously, not really owned by anyone, anyone is able to contribute... it seems almost reminiscent of cooperatives. ...

Iran has no history of aggression towards it's neighbours :? That's not true. The Iranians (under the many names they have gone by for the past few thousand years) have been one of the most aggressive and expansionist powers in history. https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Military_histor...

Actually, no. The war with Japan was unnecessary from the beginning (they were deliberately provoked) to the end (they had new leadership and were already waving the white flag before the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki). The war in Europe could have been managed better in a number of ways, but t...

1/ Iraq attacked Iran as a US proxy, Iran neither provoked nor initiated armed conflict, and once it had chemical weapons [technology supplied by western powers] used against it it chose not to stoop to such low methods - check your history, check your facts, perhaps listening to someone other than...

Remember the cold war? well maybe not as you are too young, modern Iran has no track record of aggressive military activity. I am old enough to remember watching[1] Iran in battle with Iraq , and yet you [2] claim to be 45 ? Perhaps you live in a bubble. given your imperialist stance and demonstrab...

@ visagrunt 'Nonsense'? Perhaps you are cofusing the concept of 'race' [genetic grouping] and 'nation' [cultural grouping], how do you fit the black Jews of Ethiopia into your reasoning, they are definately a different racial group to the polish Jew however they may possibly be fitted into the conce...
