It's a matter of how one perceives the world: "My life is a part of the world" - not being fully present (autistic view - the world is in center, not you) "The world is a part of my life" - being present (non-autistic view - you are in center, not the world) "The world is part of my life" feels lik... |

Hard to know exactly what they meant by that w/o asking them.. struggles w/ self-identity could be describing symptoms of social anxiety/self depreciation keeping grounded, again, feelings of anxiety around others? not being present due to distracting thoughts? boundaries.. in terms of psychology, I... |

I take note of them/appreciate them, but I don't have a special interest in birds. Since I do participate in some wind sports, and am interested in various sciences & maths that apply to their flight and movement patterns, I tend to watch them with a bit of a different eye for certain details. @goldfish21 Your advice rings true to me. It seems like the more I repress the less I am able to be in the present! I think they are correlated.. I'm sure that they are, but maybe not any more correlated than anything else you could have on your mind. Being present involves your thoughts & emot... |

I don't agree that an inclination towards homosexuality is an inclination towards sin. If God has arranged things in such a way that so many people are naturally homosexuality, then it's his will, surely. Gay people usually feel a natural desire to love a person in what, for them, is an ordinary lo... |

I can hear, but I have had deaf friends for 1/2 my life, so I kinda "get," where you're coming from. I think if you consistently test w/ 40% hearing loss in your right ear on separate tests months apart while under different stress levels, then you'd be able to determine that the hearing loss is in ... |

Never heard of that. Makes me wonder if there's a correlation to gestational diabetes.
Pretty sure my mom gained quite a bit of weight while pregnant with me, but mainly because she was also pregnant with my twin brother. |

While I myself have a rather narrow list of ideal characteristics in a partner & many deal breakers, and I say this acknowledging myself among those I comment on: I think this thread has really shown which ones of us would score quite highly on a Perfectionist personality type test. So many crit... |

I think it depends if you find the person interesting in other ways. If you do, then I wouldn't go over the top and pretend you love something you hate, but at least be polite and willing to listen. I've found that most enthusiasts make their pet subject sound interesting anyway. If you don't find ... |

OH G, seems like many aspies have to sacrifice a lot in terms of looks give the polls results Strange, I can't view the poll results w/o voting so can't see what they are. And while aesthetics aren't everything and I'm certainly not flawless, I'd just like to say... f**k that, I'd rather be happily... |

How can you be sure the narcissism & arrogance isn't AS related? As per the book we've both read, this can happen in some w/ AS who have an almost god-like complex expecting others to worship them for their self perceived greatness. Depression and social anxiety traits could explain feeling infe... |

Here's an article about some very famous gay penguins who were in the news a fair bit at the end of 2011: http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2011/12/13/gay_penguins_buddy_and_pedro_turn_attention_to_the_ladies.html This is now believed to be the cause of homosexuality: (hormone levels present in the wo... |

While the OP's attempt at explaining what "being present," means isn't all that clear or how I'd define it, I do believe being present is extremely important. "Be present," is the 2nd most valuable piece of advice I've ever been given. Being preset, living in the moment, involves focusing & alig... |

Even given the autistic predilection for low self-esteem, this poll is bearing out my original theory for both men and women. I have a new theory: given that autistic people generally need to trade down in looks, what differentiates an autistic person who can get a date from one who can't (differen... |
