I can identify with the situations of having good prospects derailed by some minor part of the process I'd rather not deal with. Even nowadays it still happens to a degree

The fact that you have been out on your own and thriving is driving them all kinds of insane. In their eyes they would have such a burden to relish sharing with their flying monkeys (what friends they do have, sympathetic/ sycophant relatives) about the Ungrateful Son Who Couldn't Make His Way In Th...

Carbonated drinks can be a trigger. If you are feeling heartburn or sore throats have the doc screen for H. Pylori on your next labwork

@auntblabby 'does anybody else here like cushy-smooth-riding and quiet cars?' I learned to drive when I was 15 in a '76 LTD wagon that weighed well over 4800 lbs (2132 kg) and was 18.8 feet (5348 m) long. For the next decade my folks preferred the Lincoln Mark series. I once took the Mk V up to 100...

If there are provisions for receiving unemployment benefits it's probably better to wait until terminated and then file a claim. Hopefully there is some kind of paper trail that can help back up your case. What usually happens with companies is that after 90 days they have to start paying benefits t...

I grew up around American V8s but nowadays I find myself attracted to more obscure or oddball musclecars like the Leyland P76, Opel Mantas, Chevy Firenza, nearly everything in the Holden range. Especially the Utes. I enjoyed learning the US Ford Falcon that ended in the mid-1960s was continued in Ar...

Riding a moped (and I take mine to those car washes too!) means nobody is ever asking me to take them somewhere, though I don't mind going out on errands for them. That's part of it too; when I'm out on a mission I don't have to sit on the couch and put up with hearing/seeing them. If I can help it ...

Going to the gym is a worthwhile activity; a good workout can be a real confidence booster. The important thing is to not get yourself into a rut. Meanwhile at the gym, the whirlpool is a decent neutral ground to interact socially - in fact at my local gym there are a regular group who seem to come ...

I too have always cringed at the sound of my recorded voice playing back at me. Making my own musical compositions has sort of forced me to endure hearing it (since nobody ever seems to sing the lyrics the same way I hear them in my head when I write them) and I can always model my 'singing' style a...

Gender-wise it is likely that being female and of a certain age will have an easier time of finding a mate, the 'resume gap' isn't questioned to the degree that a male is: when a female goes for months or years between relationships it is usually assumed that she was focused on studies/career or she...

It's the aspect of structure to it: Planes, trains and buses have rigid routes and schedules, taxicabs are usually confined to certain areas of a city/ county and must meet standard criteria to retain their permit. Uber is the wild-card but I'm sure they draw the line at having drivers with felonies...

I hadn't thought of it as a theory but I had lately been noticing that since I started wanting to get healthier and more active, and getting back to 'last known good configuration' I delved into all of the past 20 years of skateboarding that I tuned out heretofore, and since getting a gym membership...

As long as the diapers aren't involved I wouldn't see any reason to bring it up to a therapist and even if they were, only to explain their presence as a comfort object. There's nothing harmful in any of it though misguided people may accuse of not being emotionally mature

If I can eventually make pretty music...will the logistics of how I got there matter? No THIS is where I was trying to fit it in my previous post; in the movie "Mr. Holland's Opus" he has a student struggling with clarinet and he asks the student what is the most beautiful thing to her. S...

And all this with a "C natural" key signature is just the tip of the iceberg, without even getting into whole notes, half notes, quarters, eighths etc. I don't believe I've ever seen a raga transcribed for sitar or swaramandal into Western notation Jensen is correct; absolute pitch is not ...
