Yep that just proved it.
Not so -

Legal definition of freedom of speech: The right to express information, ideas, and opinions free of government restrictions based on content and subject only to reasonable limitations (as the power of the government to avoid a clear and present danger) especially as guaranteed by the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/diction ... f%20speech

Thus, "freedom of speech" does not apply.

What you're complaining about is the removal of a remark for the reason given - that is, it was in breach of the site rules; those rules regarding behavior and what is permitted on a privately-owned website.

When it comes to private enterprise be it a business or a website there are no free speech rights, only freedom of expression privileges granted by the owner.

Beyond that, I'm pretty sure the site can't and doesn't promise free speech because we're all bound by ToS we agreed to upon joining.

ToS or not, I don't see how I broke any of the site rules by posting that.

It is still up.
I just posted. 8)

I see it as genital mutilation.

Presumably, a major consideration was hygiene, thousands of your ago.
Things have changed making it a cultural tradition rather than a medical concern.

I disagree with the procedure on ethical grounds rather than an indication of racial discrimination.

I also never judge a person on their ethnicity.
I do consider cultural influence.

Yes, I am damn near perfect.

The owner is generally not involved here.

By agreeing to community rules, one agrees to... community rules, which often include some limits to expression.
There's a difference between disagreement and hate.
Espressing disagreement on WP is okay.
Expressing hate is very not okay.
The edition to your post was made in a way that it stayed clearly within the "disagreement" region.

Posts go through a moderator filter and judgements are often dependent on their weltanschauung.

There is also give and take.
I have personally seen many examples of this. 8)

There are places without moderators on the Internet. They're free of this issue. They're full of other issues.
So, yes, give and take. Not perfect but still better than the alternative (at least in my opinion, otherwise I wouldn't be giving my time and effort in volunteer job here)

Slightly off topic, but is Alex Plank still even a member of the site? In the membership list, which is still accessible if you know where to look (wink wink, nudge nudge), his name is now nowhere to be found. I think he used to be second or third on the list.....

How weird is that then? The list in my previous post is bang up to date (I've checked several of the postcounts), but is clearly different from your list. The link I used is:

memberlist.php?mode=group&g=17

Your list shows members of the group "Registered users" but group membership can be overridden/new groups created by founders/admin so he wouldn't necessarily appear there.
(checks admin panel) - yep, he's the sole member of his own group so has whatever permissions that group provides - ie. "everything", and members of that group wouldn't therefore appear in your list.

Thanks for that. Alex definitely used to be included on the 'Registered Users' list. I love the idea of him being the sole member of his own group!

I'd guess the group membership reduction is a safety measure which adds another layer of security through being "armored" in a unique group.
