Never read it but I'm not sympathetic to the CCP so I don't have much reason to read their propaganda.

So, you simply don't "tune in"?
That sounds like a plan. :thumright:

But, but, but, Fnord uses that strategy on me and it seems to be quite effective.

Different situation, I don't see you amassing large groups of followers who hang on your every word and believe your claims more than their own damn eyes; but, even using your example, folks challenge you more when they believe you're posting harmful disinformation compared to lots of other stuff you might post.

I think you have to consider this:
Hyperpartisans cannot be convinced of anything/k and will continue to embrace their groupthink views.
"You can take a wombat to logic, but you can't make it think."

If you want to change someone's opinion, you have to find people with an open mind.
Find non-wombats to discuss things with.
People who only whinge about the same thing relentlessly are not those types of people. 8)

To be fair the populations of those sorts of communities tend to exist on a spectrum, at the one end you've got people who can't be convinced and moving away from that point you've got people who can be convinced on some issues, or who aren't invested in the consensus yet on that issue or who already disagree with the bloc on that issue. Each of those represents a different way to begin more meaningful dialogue and there's loads of issues that work like that.

People tend to be fairly persuadable towards consensus with the community when they encounter what they perceive as an agreeable community, but that won't mean there aren't issues they're out of step on and those tend to be good places to start building report if the goal is changing minds.

Just read this article and came here to start a thread but I see it's already going.

Anyways, funny and interesting take on this money laundering scheme of a "social media website."

Given there is no requirement to see posts from Mr Zuckerberg on Facebook, or from Mr Dorsey on Twitter, it would be interesting to see if Mr trump follows the same example
What now - Trump, with his own shiny new megaphone - and not using it? I expect he'll use it like he used Twitter to post bragging, lies and infantile whining.
Quote:
- if so, the site may be reasonable: it will simply be a platform where you can choose to see\not see whichever users you choose...and those who dislike Mr Trump can, theoretically, use it simply to add a "cost", however small, to Mr Trump for the services which they use (storage\bandwidth\other server related expences.
I'm interested to see if posts against Trump will be allowed to remain there: he's notoriously thin-skinned and unlikely to have any tolerance for criticism - as in real life. Then again I don't think he ever replied to posts on his Twitter feed, which gave the impression he was just using it as a write-only service, so this may go the same way.
He's already asking for money, so it would be surprising if he didn't use this new platform for the same.
Quote:
If, however, viewing his posts (or fundraising requests) is "mandatory", then it will certainly limit the number of people willing to use it (although there would still be the potential for 70+ million users).
Ah yes, that's the bigger question: will anyone really be interested in it? His earlier blog failed through lack of interest, and that was basically a Trump monolog service.
He may run it as free for reading and charge a fee for posting privileges. But if it just ends up as a "rah rah Trump" echo-chamber I wouldn't expect that to have much holding power - especially if there's a charge for it.

I'd suggest there is another category - those who are simply interested in observing or studying the man and his actions. No promotion required or intended.

IMO, "Pumpkin" Trump will always be a sore loser who may never accept the fact
that he wasn't reelected in the 2020 election.
