‘Magnificent’: Meloni blasts France’s ‘exploitation’ of African countries on live TV
22 hours ago

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has given a TV interview explaining how France “continues to exploit poor, African countries” which then adds to Europe’s illegal immigration crisis, Sky News host Rita Panahi says.

“She said the solution is not to take the Africans and bring them to Europe, the solution is to free Africa from certain Europeans who exploit it,” Ms Panahi said.

“The left who pretend to care about poor people and the flood of illegal, economic migrants into Europe should be making that precise same argument, instead of making people smugglers rich and painting anyone who objects to illegal immigration as racist.”

Is this the same Prime Minister who unapologetically praised Mussolini?

When she was young and dumb, yes.
Youths go through a stupid period before their thinking brain fully develops.
Such is life. <shrug.

No country should be exploiting any country.

Non-sequiter.
No connection to what I said.

No children were involved in setting up a system of genocide.
Perhaps you can explain your logic?

France is being a very naughty "boy", and it is good that someone is shining a light on its poor behaviour, assuming what has been said is true.

I am not advocating for Meloni, btw.
(I know virtually nothing about her.)
Anyone who thinks this is silly by jumping to conclusions.
I am not talking about you. ;)

My point is that I don't believe she should be trusted.

Plus Italy occupied present-day Libya, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia.

It would make her a hypocrite as well.

That really depends on whether or not she denies the similarity.
She may agree that some things Mussolini did were wrong.
Ask her and see what she says. ;)

But I am not sure she believes in what she said when she was young and dumb.
I doubt it.
Ask her. ;)

Most ppl learn and grow.
Very few stay the same throughout their lives.
I don't have the same values as I did when I was 15, thankfully.
Neither does Greta Thunberg. ;)

She has a long history of being anti-African and anti-immigration.

I definetly agree, I say don't trust her. And I worry about the direction she will take Italy down...

She's playing politics. She is laundering her personal far right beliefs the same way an organised criminal syndicate launders the proceeds of crime to make herself look a legit statesman/woman.

The groups in Italy she was associated with would deploy gangs who wander the streets looking to harass anyone looks African (Hitler's brownshirts did literally the same thing to Jews in the 1930s). Her intention is to create a climate of fear for Africans so they choose to leave Italy.

What concerns me more is why people espousing clearly racist views running for office in both the US and Europe are seen by mainstream normal people as acceptable role models/leaders.

It looks like the lessons of the fascist experiment in Italy were not learned and people are falling for the same kind of rubbish all over again.
