Physicist Peter Ridd says the Great Barrier Reef is by far the best protected, most pristine and the “most beautiful reef in the whole wide world”.

A joint report by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and UNESCO’s World Heritage Centre (WHC) recommended the reef be inscribed on the World Heritage in Danger list.

“This just shows the moral corruption in the scientific fraternity that they are picking on the Great Barrier Reef,” he told Sky News Australia.

This political interference is a serious problem in many areas of scientific endeavour.
