How much is your electricity bill?

I was wrong. With VAT it's over £100 a week. An energy bills support scheme gives £67 a month to reduce the size of the bill.

I've been on the phone to the leccy company and it seems I missed a payment which takes my total to £260 which is still bad but not as bad.

That doesn't sound right FM. I live in a house. Are you getting any payments from the government, you should be entitled to and getting the 'Energy Bills Support Scheme' (£60? a month) and you should be entitled to a one-off payment of £150 called the 'Warm Home Discount' which I had to apply for.

What's your unit rate and daily standing charge. Mine unit rate is 34.98p and standing charge 52.72p a day.

I get the EBSS(£67 a month). I think I also got the one off payment. I'm currently £616.36 in debit.

Are you on a token meter?

I'm not on a token/prepayment meter. I pay by direct debit. There's no standing charge. First 62.00 kWH @53.688P, next 1108.00 kWh @32.592p

Maybe have the electric company come by and do a check to see if something is wrong?
On the news I saw where one family had outrageous bills and there was something wrong with their meter.

I've seen that with high water bills, as the result of leaks.

I'm jealous that you guys and The Lizard Woman get support on utilities from the government. I don't know of any such assistance here for people on disability. We didn't even get Covid relief money, which still burns my butt because we were the only social group in the country denied payments.

I can also get a free ride to any doctors appointments but I don’t use it.
Years ago when my car was broken down it came in handy.
I pay nothing for medical bills or medicine.

Our doctors are always free here, but we have to pay for prescriptions until age 65, as well as non-doctor services like psychologists, massage therapy, osteopathy, social workers, OT, PT, Speech Therapy, etc.

I pay $500 / month for coverage of these expenses for myself and my daughter. It used to be free from my employer but now that I'm on LTD I have to pay out of pocket. The coverage isn't perfect because we have maximums allowable for each service and the rest is on us. Her medicine alone would be over $500 / month so it's a good thing we can have this insurance, although paying $500 for it totally sucks arse. The price has gone up about 10% every year, too.

I was eligible for free wheelchair transit (door to door) after my first stroke but it was such a horribly-run program it took hours just to do a five minute drive, and then hours home again.

The only thing I get is I'm allowed a companion to have free admission to some venues (non-medical). I have a wheelchair parking permit, and I don't have to pay income tax. It kinda sucks not paying income tax because that also means I'm not ever eligible for tax refunds. When I was working I got huge refunds every year but that will never happen again.


Correction: Nope. Just remembered the wheelchair transit thing cost $5 each way.

My last electricity bill was AU$300 for 3 months (electricity is billed quarterly here), which is higher than usual for my flat (usually it's ~$240 for me). But the state government gave a $175 subsidy to all households on their power bills, to combat cost of living increases, so I ended up only paying $125. Not that I mind cheap electricity, but I do wonder how the state government plans on paying for such a large subsidy program, especially with the Olympics coming up in 9 years.

That's since I moved into this flat in the second week of last August.

Mine is between $60 and $110, depending on how often I use the air-conditioner.

I noticed, in Canada, that the electricity bill is called the "hydro" bill.
