When I was younger, I ate very slowly, taking over an hour to finish a meal. Looking back, I think this might have been because I was full, but I didn't know what hungry and full felt like at the time, so my parents just kept stuffing me with food. My parents say I would chew my food for a long time. Also, when I ate by myself, I would always spill something (usually rice) when getting the food from the spoon to my mouth. When there was still naptime, I would be finishing my lunch instead of napping, not that I took naps anyway. My teacher actually put spicy stuff in my food because the theory is: if it's spicy, then you'll shove a bunch of (non-spicy) rice into your mouth and swallow as fast as you can. (I was in China when I was younger, so rice is served typically at every meal.) I ended up spitting it out.
I eat faster now, but I'm still one of the last ones to finish, though on time.
