Oh, dear.
I just got to this post.

Where was that even posted?

Overeaters don't have that body type.
Overeaters are big all over instead of mostly in the belly.
I'm just curious why so many men here have a vested interest in other men's bodies?
Also why do you and the other men keep telling me what to think?
Trauma therapy: That's not an insult. I have a trauma therapist.
It just seems you're traumatised about your dad, and a fear of losing him.
You're catastrophising into other people's lives and choices.

Men can have their own opinions too.
I'm not traumatized too. Stop trying to discredit my opinions by implying they're the result of trauma.
It's about as low as it goes.
I haven't discredited your opinion at all.
I've only explained that being overweight doesn't always mean a person will have a heart attack.
I'm trying to stop stereotypes and against body types.
The OP didn't ask for photos or any judgment.
He only asked if some women like dad bods.
I said yes.
The response I received was that those men will die and it's silly to like them.
I was being empathetic about your dad, and your concern for him.
Not to be confused with your lack of comment or empathy about my daughter.

This is the OP question.
I like them.
I'm a woman and I'm real.
I'm not sure about the rest of you.
I thought you were men?
That doesn't mean men can't have an opinion.
<klears throat>
Yes, some women DO like dad bods.
Some don't.
The age group is also a consideration.

Pointing out that you have in fact been through a very real traumatic experience (whether it traumatized you or not), and that it could be affecting your perspective on the matter isn't discrediting your opinions. It's adding context to them. They are perfectly valid, as far as they apply to you - but they are not others' experiences, and we are all allowed to face life, and death, in our own ways, as we see fit.

How do you explain that?

Stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason a lot of the time. I didn't even see anything about your daughter here.

My daughter is only in her 20's but she has a chronic health condition that is slowly killing her. There is no cure. You'd have no clue by looking at her and in fact she's often berated for using a wheelchair parking permit because people can't see her invisible medical condition. She has a perfect BMI and a lovely figure but she is at high risk for sudden organ failure including heart attacks and strokes.
All I'm saying is we can't judge a book by its cover. Weight is one risk factor for CVA, but it's not the only one. If you're concerned about heart health or a possible genetic condition inherited from your father, I suggest you seek regular medical care to rule out cholesterol and / or any other underlying conditions which could shorten your lifespan.

Yes we can all have our own opinions about what "some women" like.
This thread went sideways when people kept talking about heart attacks.
That wasn't the OP's intent and he said so.
It was even more hurtful when people were called "obnoxious" for having opinions.

There were 500 people in my senior class in high-school. Hell, it wouldn't be hard to survey 443 people in a single city, who all have gym memberships, and skew the results entirely. .
There's a fair amount I want to dissect about your post but I am mindful that while you are permitted to be condescending to me I (as an NT) unfortunately don't have the same privilege.
But let me start with your somewhat amateur take on statistics. Statistical power does increase with sample size but it hardly relies on thousands as you claim. Most research studies in psychology are designed to maximise power in order demonstrate significance. I don't know how much you have read as an undergraduate but I've gone through several hundred articles in my life and in most psychology research sample size is between 30-100.
So now that we got that out of the way (and please don't whine about knowing more than me) there's plenty of evidence to support the thread topic (yes I am stating on topic) that dad bods are less attractive to females than slimmer males.
When manipulated in a controlled environment, females implicitly (and without awareness) choose a male body size < healthy mid-range in terms of body fat.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4892674/
The most attractive apparent fat mass for female bodies was significantly lower than the healthiest appearing fat mass (and was lower than the physiologically healthy range)
And no its not an obsession, It's the purpose of the thread topic. I am curious why people are so phobic against facts ?

Health *IS* a legitimate consideration in terms of attractiveness, IMO.
BTW, I am talking from experience.
*I* am trying to lose 10 kgs to improve my quality of life, not for visual appeal.

Yes - Most people aren't attracted to people who look noticeably ill. ^
My point has been (repeatedly) that we can't always judge health by looking at someone
Weight does not necessarily = Health
Overweight people don't always have high cholesterol
Muscular people might be at higher risk of heart attack by exertion, restricted diet, or steroids
My daughter looks like a vibrant, healthy, fit young woman but has a critical illness
OP doesn't want us to talk about health, though.
Good luck on your weight loss Pepe.

The dominant evolutionary theory of physical attraction posits that attractiveness reflects physiological health, and attraction is a mechanism for identifying a healthy mate.
Zactly...

Nades comment is correct, The man with the dad bod faces a number of risk factors. It's a medical fact. I'm not saying he won't live long, but he will have to manage risk of Type II diabetes, cancer, cholesterol, dementia and alzheimers and many other conditions exaxerbated by being overweight
