The link between red hair and ASD/ADHD has fascinated me for some time. I myself am Asian, and know others on the spectrum who have various hair colours/ethnicities, BUT, it seems every red haired person I’ve ever met (including my current husband and ex husband who wasn’t red haired but had the freckles and complexion from his red haired father) is on the spectrum. I’ve googled the heck of it for a few years now and just joined this forum recently for myself. I think even Prince Harry is ADHD. Certainly these brain based disorders are not exclusive to red headed people but i wonder if they are more common to them.

My hair is brown.
I have an uncle who may've been an Aspie (based on how my family describes him) and he had black hair.

Before someone gets too insistent concerning an alleged link between autism and hair color, here are some facts:

Natural Hair Color Statistics

• Black/dark brown hair is the world's most common hair color. 75-84% of the world's population has naturally black or dark-brown hair (depending on the study). Some estimates are as high as 90%. Dark brown hair is found everywhere in the world. It is almost the only natural color found in Africa and Asia, but only 7.5% of the US population has brown hair.

• Brown hair (a.k.a., "Brunette") comes in as the second-most common hair color in the world, with 11% of the population being naturally brunette.

• Only 3% of the world's population has natural blonde hair. A natural blonde usually has more hair strands on their head than other hair colors. Towheads have 150,000 strands of hair, brunettes have 100,000 and redheads average about 90,000 strands.

• Only 2% of people have natural red hair. Some estimates are less than 2%. 13% of the Scotland population has naturally red hair, and 40% of the population carries the gene. This country has the highest percentage of redheads in the world.

(BTW: Back when I still had hair on my head, it was dark brown. What little I have left has turned white.)

Other, I guess. My hair darkened as I got older.

I had dirty blonde hair for a long time but it's more of a golden medium brown now.

I have Aspergers

I’m awaiting an appointment to restart the diagnostic process after it fell by the wayside when I missed a letter due to moving house.

I have brown hair, with one lock that bleaches blond in summer.
It’s also quite curly: when I wore it long it clustered in twisted locks.

My natural hair is very dark brown. I have very very pale skin though, and blue eyes. I don't like my natural hair so I dye it light brown. My hair has lots of natural red in it too.
It seems that the majority of people who took the poll have some shade of brown hair. I know brown hair is common, but that is interesting.

Also, I do have ASD.
