The article is mostly speculative in nature.

Just wild speculation even wishful thinking by many.

Unless an adult has been officialy diagnosed like Temple Grandin then they dont have ASD.

Many people have odd personality sides and special / pedantic interests, but remain largely neurotypical in nature.

Poor old Bill Gates keeps getting mentioned, maybe he doesnt have the heart to just put the record straight?

Watched an autistic boy on tv recently who said he had autism just like bill gates.

US state department claiming Putin has aspergers that shows up on a brain scan, only problem you cant diagnose ASD from a brain scan (if only) all this remote diagnosing should stop unless its to raise a concern.

I'm not really too keen on purchasing sessions with what are called mental health professionals.

In the gay community, we make a hobby out of spotting gays past or present, and there is avid speculation as to historical gays, for instance Michelangelo, Socrates, Caravaggio. I see no reason not to do likewise with Aspergers. It is fun and there is no harm done. One writer that I have not seen mentioned before that I think may have been an Aspie is H. P. Lovecraft, a writer I've been reading a lot of lately.

To say the least... so now every misfit and eccentric in history is armchair-diagnosed with Aspergers?!

It is not harmful if it is acknowledged as speculation and it not used to think I am a misunderstood genius.

Far Far Far to often that these people are autistic is stated as fact especially with these internet top aspies lists.

Not true. They might have been or are autistic. As long as a person meets or met the diagnostic criteria for autism they are or were autistic. I did not suddenly become autistic at age 55 when a professional diagnosed me.

You have just described most living people officially diagnosed with aspergers. That's pretty much what aspergers is.

That plus a few social deficits (which many luminaries of the past who fit the above description) also had.

But having said that- yes- that list is VERY speculative and smacks of wishful thinking.

There are historic figures that do seem like strong candidates, but I cant believe that even half of the pop culture icons on this list are among them.

Let's see god is a loner...he likes building thinks repetitiously....he created man in his image because he wanted artificial intelligence....he had children with his creations (the children of god) so he used us like sexbots...he had meltdowns and wiped out the population on a couple of occasions....

definitely a candidate
