If you read the article it sums up everything I said a few years ago. Once the MAGA hat wearing little rat got his money from the newsmedia he's showing his true colours.

Nothing as American as apple pie seeing a group of white teens racially vilifying a native American elder and then the main protagonist winning a 6 figure settlement to pay for his college. Like a MAGA wet dream.

If you watch the entire video you will see a different story unfold.
Nick Sandman and the other Covington HS kids were all standing together when Mr Phillips approaches them and gets right up into Nick's face and stays there. The video aired on the MSM left out that part.

First of all nobody was canceled that day.

Again the false outrage narrative of innocent native American elder being bullied by racist mob is being propagated.

Nation Phillips is a liar who engaged in stolen valor.
Native American activist Nathan Phillips lied that he was a 'Vietnam vet' in Facebook video

Quote:

Nathan Phillips, the Native American leader who accused Covington Catholic High School students of harassing him last Friday, falsely claimed in a 2018 Facebook video that he was a “Vietnam vet” and served “in theater.”

Military records show that Phillips, who served in the Marine Corps between 1972 and 1976, was not deployed overseas and spent the years working stateside as a refrigerator mechanic after a four-month stint as an anti-tank missileman.

Phillips, 63, has previously suggested that he might have served in the war, referring to himself in interviews as a “Vietnam times veteran” and a “recon ranger" and stating: "People called me a baby killer and a hippie girl spit on me.”

But now, Phillips has been shown claiming outright that he served in the Vietnam War in a video posted to the Native Youth Alliance Facebook page last January.

Washington Examiner Reports: Democrats in Congress move to start stacking the Supreme Court
“I’m a Vietnam vet, you know, I served in the Marine Corps, ’72 to ’76," Phillips said in the video. "I got discharged May 5th 1976, you know. One of the — I got honorable discharge — and one of the boxes in there, it shows if it was peacetime, or what my box says is that I was in theater. I don't talk much about my Vietnam times, you know. I usually say I don't recollect, I don't recall, you know, those years."

Military records provided to the Washington Examiner show that Phillips, who went by his adopted name “Nathaniel Stanard” at the time, served in the Marine Corps Reserve between 1972 to 1976 and held the rank of private, E-1, on April 18, 1975. According to records obtained by former Navy SEAL Don Shipley, Phillips was listed as absent without leave three times.

Tribal elder in viral standoff video was not a Vietnam veteran, military records show
Quote:
The Native American tribal elder who became the focus of a viral social media controversy over the weekend is not a Vietnam veteran, the U.S. Marine Corps confirmed Wednesday.

Nathan Phillips, 64, spent four years in the Marine Corps Reserve and left in 1976 with the rank of private, or E-1, the Marines said in a statement providing his personal releasable information.

So it is unlikely he was spit at and called baby killer when returning home from Vietnam since he was never in Vietnam. Possible that happened to him if he wore his uniform off duty but soldiers were told not to do that. He used the traumatic situation endured by a disputed amount of returning soldiers for his own ends.

Basilica confirms Nathan Phillips protest attempted Mass disruption
Quote:
The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception has confirmed that protesters led by the Native American activist Nathan Phillips attempted to disrupt the celebration of Mass on the evening of Jan. 19.
On Jan. 23, a spokesperson for the Washington, DC basilica released a statement to CNA confirming the previously reported events of Saturday night.

The statement said that while Mass was being celebrated, “a group of approximately 50 individuals attempted to gain entrance to the basilica while chanting and hitting drums.”

The statement clarified that the protesters attempted to gain entrance to the basilica during the celebration of a specially arranged Mass being celebrated at 7 p.m, and not, as had previously been reported, during the basilica’s regularly scheduled 5:15 p.m. Mass.

“At this time, Mass was being celebrated in the upper church where the individuals attempted to enter,” the statement said.

In respect and reverence for the Mass, the individuals were not permitted to enter the Basilica due to the disruption it would have caused during the solemn Mass. The individuals were asked to leave the property after it was determined they did not intend to share in the celebration of Mass.”

According to video footage of the event and eye-witness accounts, the group assembled across the road from the shrine before setting off toward its main entrance, chanting and playing drums.

Seems like the Phillips group was targeting Catholics that day not the other way around as conventional wisdom continues to insist.

CNN does not strike me as the type of outfit that gives money to MAGA’s out of the good of their heart.

As I've pointed out many times here - The Daily Mail is a sensationalist, muck-raking rag and not to be trusted.

Not that Wikipedia is especially trustworthy but it does have a better summary of what actually happened, and Mr Reynholm is right - there is much more to this than was reported.

Sandmann's exploits since winning his claim have been fairly widely published

Nothing like the innocent "boy-next-door" image his lawyers were getting him to portray prior to litigation his parents and QAnon lawyer Lin L. Wood successfully executed on his behalf.

Yes - while what got reported initially was certain organisations falling over themselves to make it something other than what it was claimed to be, thereby opening themselves up to defamation lawsuits - events since then do tend to show beyond doubt Sandmann's character: it ain't pretty.

Absolutely this. Drives me loopy when I see non UK folk linking it online thinking they are providing actual 'proof' of something happening. You would get laughed at in the UK if you claimed something then when asked how you know this, said it was in the DM

12 or so years ago I had this exact argument with my friend. He was reading the DM and flipping out over a story, I tried telling him they were only a bit more credible than the Weekly World News and he got really offended, called his British fiance over and she laughed and told him she buys the DM doesn't believe a word in it.

He seemed a little confused how I already knew that.

Toes curled when Trump retweeted the UK's Katie Hopkins, referring to her as a "respected columnist".
That raised a well-deserved snort of derision, but it's easy to see why he liked her.

What any reasonable person would surmise from the situation is that the Covington boys and specifically Nicholas Sandmann acted based on what they saw which was an old native american man trying to intervene to stop the boys from responding to group of black hebrews. Phillip's prior conduct had nothing to do with the racist taunts thrown at him so that argument is a red herring.

Due to Trump's interference (which should really have been sufficient justification to throw out the case in the first place) the real issues were never addressed by the media and not properly articulated by native Americans themselves.

1. The Covington catholic school is in a predominantly white republican area
2, the enrolment is 100% white
3. the school allowed the boys to wear MAGA paraphanelia as they walked in public which meabns their funding should be cut
4. the school allowed the boys to protest abortion (a political issue) which means their funding should be cut
5. the most important point is the group of boys were caught on camera being racist which is a reflection of the community they are from which allows such values to continue being passed on to the next generation perpetuating the apartheid in US society.

Yes I don't exonerate the media who were infact trying to inflame both sides (they happily smeared native americans and blacks in the same articles to sell newspapers).

What I object to was a racist teen being financially rewarded for his actions, The QAnon/MAGA folk saw this as an opportunity to infact cancel the media. If anyone is trying to perpetuate cancel culture its actually the right.

Stolen valor is the lowest of the low much lower than some smirk. I hate to bring out that you were not around at the time argument but the returning Viet Vets were treated arguably worse than any returning Vets in American history. That is one reason for their high rates of PTSD, hell PTSD became recognized and was first defined to explain what was happening to them. For Phillips to play off of that, to lie about that is uber repugnant. Even if Sandmann masturbates at night to dreams of killing blacks Phillips deserved to dragged through the mud, deserved to be dragged through a lot more mud than he was.

As we agreed at the time the Covington boys were failed horribly their school in many ways. For one thing, as soon as they were heckled by the Black Hebrews the monitors should have gotten them the hell out of there as fast as they could. They were failed by adults every step of the way from their school to the Black Hebrews, and to the media and celebrities who assumed they are the equivalent of klansmen or on the way there.

As a private school, they are not government-funded. Catholic schools allow students to march in anti-abortion rallies, Jewish schools allow students to march in Israeli Independence Day parades and pro-Isreal marches as a matter of course.
