For most of the 200 000 years of Homo sapiens existence, we were hunter gatherers. 12 000 years ago the world climate stabilized enough for us to develop agriculture. More recently we developed power resources and technology. That tripod of agriculture+energy+technology is what allows us to have eight billion people now.

It's a good thing that we don't have to rely on hunting and gathering any more, as we've destroyed most of those resources.

The climate is changing. If it's natural, then it's amazing that it coincidentally happened at a time when humans pump a hundred times more green house gasses into the atmosphere than all the volcanoes on earth, and we've cleared enough trees to effect rainfall patterns. But hey, for the deniers, sure we had nothing to do with it.

Anyway, one of the legs of the tripod, agriculture, is about to find itself dealing with the death of the 12 000 year old Goldilock's Zone. Yep, Goldilocks is a farmer. Eight billion people rely upon her for their daily bread. And she just got the bad news... She's terminal.

Things are virtually never black&white.

On the plus side, as the result of global warming, we are producing food at a significantly increased rate, and that has to be good, overall.
Silver lining stuff. 8)

OK. Am I supposed to be happy that climate change is happening slower than expected, or concerned that we don't have models that accurately predict the rate of climate change?

Unfortunately, it seems everything does say climate change is happening. Sigh. I'm pretty sure that's not something to be happy about.

There is more snow and ice, in the world, now, than there has been, at certain points of the earth's history.
The earth's climate is *always* changing, btw.

Big picture outlook.
Just saying. 8)

I've heard warmer air carries moisture better. Looking at selected points does not reflect the big picture. And, in my experience, when a cyclic system starts acting erratic it is getting ready to crash.

CBS News: NOAA's "new normal" climate report is anything but normal

NBC News: Pacific Northwest is in one of the most intense heat waves ever, with the worst still to come

U.N.: Climate Change

WHO: Climate change and health

U.S. EPA: Climate Change Indicators: Weather and Climate

U.S. NOAA: Climate change impacts

U.S. NASA: Climate Change: How Do We Know?

The Sydney Morning Herald: From drying rainforests to heavier downpours, Australia’s climate is changing

But maybe all those scientists that actually study this stuff are wrong.

But, just in case, you might want to invest in companies that sell air conditioners and oxygen concentrators.

Get that from SKYLNP NEWS as well? Australia's Fox News reflex is hardly objective or science friendly.

I could be wrong but I think sometimes Pepe is challenging us to challenge ourselves.

Do you watch Sky News, here in Australia?
I understand it isn't the same as Fox News in America.
Amerians often make this mistake, btw.

Compared to the ABC, Sky News has a greater adherence to the Truth.
However, I disagree on quite a few issues that the Sky News presenters, errr, present.

I find Alan Jones, while very intelligent, much too hyperpartisan for me.
I find Andrew Bolt, while very intelligent, much too conservative in his morality system.

I disagree with Andrew about 30% of the time, but he is interested in the Truth/facts, rather than emotionalistic fad trends that the left seems to frequently create and embrace.

The ABC is good when it doesn't deal with political issues.
But I hate the fact that they heavily embrace a left-wing bias, despite their charter saying they, by law, have to be impartial.
"Impartial? What a ducking japes. :lmao:

I'm waiting for an "Is not" reply. ;)

No, simply an observation.

Sky News is a flagship of the Murdoch media/press and has been anti-climate change and not surprisingly they have gone to bed with numerous conservative governments around the world who are funded by the petro-chemical industry.

The OP makes 100% of his claims based on Sky News.

Based on what evidence? Rowan Dean's opinion?

Sigh.

"Scientists fear a critical Atlantic Ocean system might collapse, triggering 'extreme cold' and sea level rise"

(1) The scientists aren't calling it a certainty.

(2) It could make a reasonably watchable movie.

Yep. Only thing they're missing to complete the channel, Tucker Carlson.

I often point out irrational thinking.
And I am not into catastrophization.

Some people are rational/logical thinkers.
Some are not.

For example.
Some people literally believe billions of people will die as a result of climate change in 5 years time.
Some people have been saying that 7 years ago. 8O
Obviously, they were wrong, but they ignore the inconvenient Truth of their erroneous belief. :lmao:

And here is another one.
Some people believe billions will die in 5 years time if CO2 levels are not reduced or eliminated, yet they are happy with China pumping out 27% of CO2 in the atmosphere because they are a so-called "developing nation".
Can you see the illogical stupidity?
Would *you* take such people seriously? 8)

A gross misrepresentation. 8O
Your previous comment was not an "observation".
It was a subjective opinion.

If you can't logically support your assertion, it will be considered a personal attack. 8)
