In Switzerland, you can't name your kid any weird thing you want. If it's not on the approved list, it's illegal.

Iceland is like that too. Seems pretty needlessly authoritarian if you ask me.

I pretty much agree. However, you could make an argument that it protects children from peer abuse.

I can't stand when people name their kids such stupid or hideous names. It seems to be becoming common here in the UK too. If me and my boyfriend ever have a baby we will call it a normal name like James or Lucy.

Someone I know called their baby girl a made-up name that a child would call their doll or something, and it's so difficult to spell or to pronounce. Just why cause so much confusion for teachers when they start school?

Unless your name includes a title it's not even that weird.

You know, like A Pimp Named Slickback. And don't you dare call him Slickback, it's like A Tribe Called Quest, you say the whole thing.

I pity her fourth and fifth children, who will probably end up being Megadeth and Anthrax.

Could have been worse.

The parents could have been into bands like the Skillet Lickers, Saliva, Steely Dan (the name of a certain dildo in a certain novel), the The Sex Change Band, the Dead Milkmen, or Pansy Division.
