Why might some folk think that being obsessed about dead people is very creepy?

I personally dont see why it's that creepy but to a lot of people it is......

Because death is something that makes most people uncomfortable.

Necrophilia is commonly taken to mean sexual relations or attractions to corpses, and is listed in the DSM-V as "an other specified paraphilic disorder, involving recurrent and intense sexual interest in corpses".  THAT is creepy.

Do you mean corpses or people who lived in the past or true crime mysteries? This topic covers a lot of areas.

I thought the majority of human history lessons are mostly about dead people and dead individuals.

Specify.

If it's about corpses and causes of death specifically, more especially involving necrobiology or necrophilia, then it likely is creepy.

The former can be as gross as any biology subject, but otherwise academic and naturally can be curious about...
The latter is just wrong -- outright taboo.

Nothing wrong with that at all----it's called "history."

Are you implying that archeologists, biographers, and historians are obsessed with the dead?

If so, then what about those people who insist that some long-dead historical figures simply MUST be aspies?

James,

Are you obsessed with some particular person from the past?

I would guess that some people don't think the subject itself is creepy, but that being interested about
some specific person is because of either the creepy things they did or the creepy way they died.

You don't have a stack of evil bricks in the yard, do you?

People who lived in the past

Thats the majority of the human race. Dead folks who lived in the past.

So being obsessed with personalities of the historic past is not creepy. Its rather normal.
So I dont know why folks you know would have a problem with it.

Hmm, why humans raping living things is less creepy than humans raping corpses? I'd wager the latter is way less creepy, since at least you are not hurting anyone. But I'm weird... :3

The former was a common stereotype about people into the goth trend :skull: I was never a goth, I was more of an EMO, especially when I was single & lonely but the goth trend is interesting & goth women can be almost as attractive as EMO women. I really like things about both trends. I should get around to taking & posting some pix of my crystal skull collection, resin skulls, brass knuckles with bat skulls & ram skulls, & daggers & other blades with skull & bat theme decor  My music collection has a lot more EMO stuff than goth stuff thou.

It's the obsession part that makes it creepy. Death is a part of life. Better to be obsessed with life.
